Why do certain people think joking about serious matters is funny?

Those people see the too much youtube pranks and think it's going to have the reaction as on youtube.

Do they realized most are staged videos and the people are told in advance what the joke will be about? I was just reading about a man breaking a girl's heart by doing an ''I cheated on you'' prank or a woman doing a ''My boyfriend beat me up'' prank on her family. They had the same excuse of trying to copy it from videos.

It's only funny if the people have a history of pranking each other so much or the person is on the joke. Otherwise the reaction will likely be a break-up, heartbreaks or an angry crowd.

They’re desensitized.


Desensitization can only be reversed by trauma or tragedy related to what the person has become desensitized to.


So…someone they love would have to get hurt by a prank for them to snap out of it and realize that there is a limit to what can be considered a prank or funny.

Humor is subjective. Finding humor in something is neither wrong or right. I don't usually find staged stuff funny, unless the acting is really good or just stupid altogether. I prefer authentic or ironic situations more.

yeah I see nothing funny about making jokes about serious issues. They fail to realize most of the videos they see on youtube are mainly fake. Both the prankster and the one being pranked are into it. They know what it will be about and are acting it.
No one in their right mind would think the scenario would play the same in real life, with people with real feelings.
