How does one overcome loneliness?

That is a question only you can answer. Depending on your personality, loneliness could mean you are comfortable, but if you are an extrovert? not so much.

My career is one of the most lonely, dangerous, and depressing industries you could ever invest in: OTR/Regional trucking (not including local drivers). You learn ways to overcome it while on the road (even in rural areas without internet).

1. CB radio helps, along with phone group chats with close friends.

2. Wear something funny and try to make people laugh in public. Wearing a big funny hat at a truckstop is a great conversation starter for me.

3. Seek out an older person and compliment them, observe how they act and what they are wearing to see if you can start a conversation based on relatable ground. Tell them you are bored and lonely and want somebody to "kill time" with for a bit.

4. Simply just smile. Hold the door open for people and nod. That will attract so many people in my experience because they don't know how to process somebody who isn't depressed or cold towards other people.

5. Never walk around with your phone infront of your face. You will intimidate extroverts and introverts alike, because they assume you don't want to be bothered. (I'm introverted so I actually pretend to look at my phone to avoid people bugging me.)

There are so many ways to have temporary social interactions with people that aren't just 3 worded sentences, but that will only slightly fight off the lonely shadow looming over you. I'd say getting a friend group of buddies you can chat to over the phone with a group based chatting program (Discord/whatapp/etc) can help dramatically.

That way you get to spend time with people you like -for their final time, people are always looking for you, and (when convicted) you'll always get fan mail, journalists and psychologists visiting you to get your "side of the story". All while you stay in a 2 star hotel prison!

Joking aside, get better friends.

Dont have many of them. Went bowling earlier with one. Meeting a bunch on Saturday for a get together/my birthday.

That leaves 4 days that i am not meeting anyone. And I live alone.

I am currently on school break.

Not about to spend more money on bowling. And culture here is not like western/european culture. We dont talk to others for no reason.

I've done that before, but its not common in our culture.

I can go cycling, but thats pretty much a solo venture.

I never overcame it. It became me. I already have things I enjoy doing alone but that doesn't magically make other facets of life go away. I accept loneliness, but I do not strive for it.

Listen to positive messages or read positive books, I recommend Owning Your Life by DDP it helped to realize my goals in life and have a different mindset then I did back then.
