Why do some movies or episodes give false hope?

There was a soap opera about a HS girl getting bullied by some classmates. She pretends to be gone on vacation and disguises herself as ''her cousin Adriana'', some fictitious character that doesn't exist. She changed her hair style, got rid of her glasses, changed her clothes and stopped stuttering. All of the sudden (except her close friends who know the plan), all her classmate don't recognize her and it works. lol

If someone tried that in real life, you would get immediately recognized. It's still you with different hair style and clothes. Why do those shows give people false hope?

I think it's still you just with a different style. The fact that you changed your clothes and hair style doesn't turn you into a different person.

As a soap opera fan, I understand what you're saying. I guess they do this just for the viewers. If they tell stories in a realistic way, they won't be successful. But of course, there are always some BS.

Exactly. Only in soap operas, Hollywood movies or fictitious episodes do those stunts work. In real life, that girl would still be stuttering (a real stuttering issues takes a couple years of intensive speech therapy), still be shy, still talk about the same things but with different clothes and hair style. She would likely still get bullied and no one would be impressed too much.

Changing clothes won’t change my looks, maybe for a girl it would and not wearing glasses, going from long to short hair might do it for her. It’s definitely the movies that make seem like nobody would recognize them

The sad part is certain people actually think they can pull that in real life and that people will react the same. LOL
In real life, that girl would still get bullied or harrassed even more.
