What's one way somebody really touched your heart a long time ago that you still remember to this day?

I was going through a tough time for a few months as a teen. I had met a large group of people in a chat room. We talked in there for hours, daily, for years. 19 people sometimes. It was the 90’s and the internet was different. We knew a lot about each other.

Some of us became so close to the point of collecting silly stuff all year in shoe boxes then we would mail them to each other over the holiday season.

One of the boys sent his “lucky” postcard. It was of a military helicopter. And looked well-loved. Aside him saying so you knew it mean a lot to him. He simply said I needed it more than he did. It was incredibly thoughtful. I still have it.

One of the members passed away and everyone was so broken up about it the group dissolved. I had tried to reach out to him in case he was having any tough times it could help ease again, but never heard back.

I hadn’t found anything even close to that until GaG. It brings back lots of memories.

That's really sweet! We used to chat on IRC and a group of us would meet for dinner once a month. It was fun.

I met an amazing senior lady at McDonalds years ago and she was widowed and lonely so spent her days there to socialize. I was nice to her even though I did not speak her language and she even learned a few English greetings so we could communicate with each other. I felt so sad when I stopped seeing her there.

Running into my best friend's dad (best friend since childhood) and he thanked me for being such a good friend to him and told me how happy he was that we have stayed friends for all of these years.

This wasn't that long ago. But he's always been like a second dad to me so it was nice.

The first girl that asked me out (wasn't my first girlfriend, just the first one to ask me out). She was so shy about it but it was totally endearing.

I was 20 and an older gentleman that I respected said, "You know what I like about you? You never look at anyone differently." 26 years later, I still try to live up to that and I recall that compliment anytime I start feeling judgmental.
