What's your cool family war story?

On my mom's side I'm American and my great great great grandpa was in the 91st Pennsylvania Infantry and saw combat in the Battle of Fredericksburg was taken POW for 5 months by the Confederates in Dec 1862 and then later on was in Gettysburg. He was then wounded in the leg at the Battle of Hatcher's run. That was it for his service after that.

I have a 6th great grandfather who fought in the American Revolution, and relatives who fought on both sides of the Civil War. That's not unusual for anyone descended from people who were in the country in the 18th century.

As far back as I can go is Pearl Harbor. My grandfather (dad's side) was killed when Japan invaded. I don't know much about it though. Don't know if he was assigned to a ship or just happened to be there. It's unclear.
