Are we living in a computer simulation?

I mean in my opinion, there's a theory made by I don't know remember who but it was about how the world and universe could be made of one's and zeros, and some people in real life act like Skyrim guards on top of that social media and the news keep you from achieving the "American Dream" and yes i said it and the only reason why i believe this is bc the news when people watch it they are usually watching it for 1-3 hours, and social media people are on it for about 3 hours a day and if you add that up that's a lot of time that you could be using to get money which is considered the "American Dream" and if people can sit there and watch the news and be on social media for hours and act like Skyrim guards in real life than maybe.
I like what you wrote here. good analogy. i do believe that people are pulling the strings behind the scenes and do not want us to learn the truth
Yeah it's usually the case i like astronomy and other topics like this bc i wanna change the world it's in my personality type diplomat.
i love astronomy too, along with astrology. astrology has a bad rap because i don't think most people really understood it like the ancient cultures did. i think it's much more profound than people give it credit for
I like that also my favorite was the ancient Egyptians, i love how they recently found out that the pyramids were power generators.
exactly. you heard about the black pyramid under the ground in alaska?
No i haven't sounds interesting but, i did hear about a ancient civilization with flushing toilets dating back 2,000 years or something like that.
A simulation it could be or a simulation it might not be however anything is possible. Like an ant farm all of this could be a different kind of farm just on a bigger scale & like a fish in an aquarium is someone watching us through the glass we call a planet.
If you happen to have Netflix checkout the show 1899 it’s only a few episodes however something tells me you might like it.
Love the analogy and yeah, I just think life is too bizarre for it to not be some kind of freaky simulation, especially given my belief in aliens etc.
As for me I believe in a lot of things. From Bigfoot to the Loch Ness Monster & from 👽 to the unknown & the paranormal.
I regret only taking one philosophy class, because I loved the one I took. It really makes you think. How do you know you really asked this question? Maybe you are just dreaming. Or maybe you did ask the question, and all of us are dreaming that we answered it.
The famous French philosopher René Descartes's, struggled to figure out how you can know if you even exist. He came up with "Cogito, ergo sum" It's Greek, but it means,
"I think, therefore I am."
So true, i think about this type of stuff a lot. how do we know we are real. and what even is "real".
I have had dreams, more than once, where I performed and completed a labor intensive project.. only to wake up and realize I hadn’t even started yet.
The positive out of that depressive awareness was knowing it could turn out the way we wanted as I had technically already done all of the work.
Very interesting. Dreams can be so elucidating
Yes. These are usually the ones you remember though. lol
I believe it is our higher selves (or spirit guides as well) interacting with us to help guide us.
I used to feel that way too.

Damn right we do!
Right
Musk hinted at this a ways back, that we are living in the second tier, which is why technology is run away rather than leveling off. That we may be being "salted" with technology by the programmer.
very interesting
Everytime someone would bring this theory it hurts my brain to fathom this because what if it's true lol but fuck that
yeah a lot of things really are at mind f*cking level these days
All that 💰 saved.. where did it go…? 😭
@dustybiker right
Remember that scene in the Matrix where the one guy just gave up on the difficult reality and wanted to go into the computer simulation? We've all been in an awesome dream, and then something wakes us. Damn. You know it was just a dream, but you try to get back to it. lol
@SpringValley lol yup that is pretty scary that this could be a good dream kinda like the show Maniac with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone when they go into their heads and they're forced In dream state to try and cure there mental illness lol
And the show ended weird too haha or just like the show Severence u just never know.
Simulation simulates something that contains real variables. Whence come those variables for this simulation?
you can see the link to the theory in the update
In a high school world history class taught by a world religion teacher, it was picked up by me then that there is a religion from over around India in which it is perceived as real, the idea that reality itself is a dream of a deity from over there, and that every so often this deity switches dreams from an old one to a new one. It was said that some people are anticipating the deity waking up, too.
The faith with me stipulates that when a person forsakes all they have to be of one heart and one soul with others doing the same thing, having all things in common (possessions, beliefs, etc), in order to follow the teachings and example themselves of the historical Yehoshua of Natzaret [ 4 BC - 28 BC ] together as a group, dedicated to each other for life, it reveals an entirely different perception of reality to the human organism than otherwise.
(supposed to be 4 BC - 28 AD)
If we are, I'm majorly bugged.
I don't know, but I have often wondered if one day I will die and when I do, I'll suddenly be at a console or in a VR headset or something like that, like game over.
exactly
I'm old school. i deleted anything social media related and any communication i have is IRL. computer simulation is the leading cause of depression
I deleted all mine over 5 years ago too. Social media really is a harbinger of mental unrest.
Makes me really wonder if there’s not an agenda behind it to take people down
yeah i miss the olden days before technology ran amok
There's no strong evidence to indicate we do live in a computer simulation so it's not a theory. It's just a hypothesis much like other ridiculous hypotheses such as the multiverse or wormholes.
HA! Such an awesome question. I doubt it; no computer or AI would screw us up as bad as we've done over the last X number of years.
you can see the link posted in the question update for more info. i wonder if the algorithm is designed though to test us. like are we really in control of anything here at all?
Maybe... if it's a good simulation, we'll never know for sure.
no, that's stupid. reality actually exists.

Not everything tastes like chicken…I don’t think so.
Definitely not. No computer can literally simulate such a complex universe. And if we are in a computer simulation then where is that computer?
see the link posted in the update which explains the theory
Lol I've heard this before... along with flat earth...
to me this seems more plausible than the flat earth
Lol ok. Well, to me, both seem very very ridiculous. But to each their own I guess. Happy Thanksgiving
if we really are... then I really want a reset to the previous checkpoint
If so, i hope they pull the plug soon. I’m really sick of this shit!
yes, too much so
Agree
people just have a lot of differences
That would certainly explain a lot.
it would
Maybe, I'm a reptilian, so anything is possible.
Reptilians totally exist
Maybe, who knows? 🤣🤣
Let's hope so
yeah would make things more interesting to have confirmation
Unanswerable. How could we determine that?
Nope.
I wouldn't be upset if we were
a terrarium
precisely
Those aren't stars, those are holes to let air in
YESS RIGHT
Nah.
