Yeah... the CEO thing makes the most sense: my dad was one, but not of a really big or well known corporation. Not sure where I got politician... Stage manager was the one I was most serious about through school.
At this time I did ballet. Later I did all kind of different dance styles. This was earlier than HS though. In high school Ildidnt have a specific job in mind I wanted to do.
I love your list lol omg I wanted to be a teacher too I forgot. I used to sit all my little baby dolls down and teach them how to spell on my chalk board ๐
When I was younger I wanted to be in the NBA, lol. Once I realized I wasnโt going to grow anymore I just wanted to own my own business one day. I still donโt know what the business would be is the main problem.
Be a part of band (singer and or any instrument) Firefighter, jet pilot, actor, video cameraman, or anything part of the tv\movie area, etc stuntman, set designer, cgi. I had way to oh many hard to get ideas lol.
I can barely speak basic Korean phrases like Hello and Thank You.
I enjoy teaching here NOW, but my 2020 and 2021 sucked. The first one was during COVID and the school itself has a reputation for overworking and underpaying its teachers.
The second school I was in, has a good overall reputation, but the particular management I had were horrendously bad, very incompetent, and expected you to do a perfect job but also not communicate with you or tell you what you're doing right or wrong. A complete clown show.
I work for the same academy franchise, but in a new city now, and the management here is far better. I make $36,000 a year in US money, which is a full time salary, but essentially work part-time hours.
I very much enjoy my job, even though teaching was supposed to be a 1 to 2 year thing only. I don't know how much longer I can do it before I get burned out (even the best of them get burned out by the ten year mark), but I could go another year or two here. One of the best jobs I ever had out of 40+.
The only somewhat-negative thing is the area I'm in; Suwon sucks. There's nothing to do here. It's 45 minutes from Seoul by train, and getting to Seoul in an under an hour is the only good thing about it.
Yeah I recently watched a video of a woman talking about how horrible teaching in Korea was for her and she mentioned some of the same issues you mentioned such as being overworked and underpaid, bad management etc. She taught elementary students. But hey, you found something better. That's great!
It must be kind of annoying not being able to speak the language, though. ๐ค
That girl is being melodramatic and was likely a sh*tty teacher anyway, if she had time to record footage for a YouTube channel.
I've been here long enough to say it really is a mixed bag. All of the things she's saying can be true, but it's not a universal truth or even the majority. Some schools are nightmares; while some are amazing. But there's also the teachers themselves.
To be honest, the majority of Western women just come over here to f*ck Korean dudes. That's the truth. They're fresh-out-of-college and between 22 to 25 and not quite mature yet, so they think it's going to be a paid vacation, they won't have to do any work (many of them never worked hard a day in their lives), and they only want to come over here to sleep around with Korean men, who they all think are Chads (like Asia in general, the majority of them are unattractive, out-of-shape nerds who study too much or work too many hours.)
Korea is also kind of a superficial culture overall, similar to LA, so the most desirable teachers they choose are attractive, young, white American/Canadian/British/Australian girls in their early to mid twenties, who they can market as "real Americans." Men have it much worse in getting hired, and non-whites have it the hardest in getting hired. And of course, I'm neither a white female, or young.
So those party girls usually only last a year and go home after their contracts are over. They aren't serious about working. Another thing is, it only requires you to have a four year degree and be a native fluent English speaker to get hired here; you don't need a degree in education, English, or anything else. So a lot of them are also just liberal arts flaky women who just accept the job offers they get cause they aren't employable anywhere else and happen to be young, white, and pretty.
So yeah, there's all kinds of good and bad things about teaching over here. Some schools are horrendous, and some teachers are horrendous, too.
This girl also looks like a total diva and is whining about "free food" (95% of schools do not give you free food.) The thing about "no breaks' also differ from school to school, but most - like 60-70% - give you an hour break, or limited hours. She's also claiming it's an "unlivable salary." They pay for your rent. You live there for free... WTF is "unlivable" when you don't have to pay for rent and most of your money is disposable income (aside phone bills and utilities.)
I don't want to stereotype, but I can tell she's lazy and entitled and just expected a free vacation and some Korean booty calls coming over here. Her school was probably not good either, so I'm guessing this is a case of lazy entitled teacher at a nightmare school; worst of both worlds and definitely a rare scenario. But if the school was truly THAT bad, they wouldn't have even hired her solely because she's black. The worst ones are also the most racist and superficial.
Oh you actually watched it! Haha, nice to hear your point of view. I believe you about the women going there looking to date a Korean man. Lol @ Korean booty calls. I know a woman personally who wants to go there. I think it's from her watching too many k-dramas and thinking all korean men act like the fictional characters or look like the K-pop stars. My best friend is a Korean guy and he's so awesome but he was born here in Cali.
Yeah I think she made that video after leaving Korea. She left and went to Canada or something. I don't want to say she's lazy I don't know, but it's funny that she complained about the money if they do pay for rent. And it would make sense for the worst schools to be racist when hiring. When she mentioned the food part... I was kind of thinking why didn't she just bring her own lunch to eat so whenever it was her time to eat the leftovers she could eat that instead..
Anyway, enjoy your time there. Keep up the good work and thanks for your responses! ๐
It is really interesting. I wish I had thought about it earlier. Do you like biology? I remember in hs we had to dissect a baby pig and it was the most interesting part of class lol
Oh several reasons im dyslexic, I would have a hard time telling people their pet died. It takes 7 year's of school which i can't afford and can't get a scholarship because they said my mom made to much money so I don't qualify for assistance or anything until I'm 25. I'm not very good at math because I cheated my way through some of it because I couldn't keep up with studying and deal with my drunk mother every night expecting me to be a servant to her.

Yeah... the CEO thing makes the most sense: my dad was one, but not of a really big or well known corporation. Not sure where I got politician... Stage manager was the one I was most serious about through school.
Dancer was allways On top of that list. At some point I also wanted to be an author of children's books and I wanted to work at Lego.
Oh cool! What kind of dance were you into? I wanted to be a choreographer at one point when I was in hs haha
At this time I did ballet. Later I did all kind of different dance styles. This was earlier than HS though. In high school Ildidnt have a specific job in mind I wanted to do.

When I was younger I wanted to be in the NBA, lol. Once I realized I wasnโt going to grow anymore I just wanted to own my own business one day. I still donโt know what the business would be is the main problem.
The NBA part ๐คญ. You don't know what type of business you would want to run you mean? You still want it?
Hey it could happen!
*saying while struggling to reach item off middle shelf
Yea, Iโm not sure what kind of business. I just would like to run my own, lol.
When you find out, come back and let me know ๐
Will do! lol
*saying while struggling to reach item off middle shelf
Just now realized u making fun of ur height lmao. How tall r u?
Not very, lol. I had growth hormone issues growing up that left me at about 4โ6โ
Oh ok! You made me laugh with that "struggling" comment lol and ur username ๐ค
Lol Iโm glad! I like to make light of my size (or lack there of)! Big Pauly was one of my nicknames as a kid ๐ค
Lol, Well your personality makes your size attractive. You're great ๐
Thatโs so sweet of you to say ๐ฅบ
Your personality is even greater!
Be a part of band (singer and or any instrument) Firefighter, jet pilot, actor, video cameraman, or anything part of the tv\movie area, etc stuntman, set designer, cgi. I had way to oh many hard to get ideas lol.

Work at annoying printing company. ๐ But will be a long haul truck driver soon.

I wanted to be a Fire Fighters but I fell love with film making as an adult and now I want to be a Film Director/Producer.
Cool! Are you working towards it?
Oh yes, I was in the movie "The Dark Knight Rises" 2012.

How come?
A scientist on a space station. This is when I was like seven.
You should do it! Are you still interested in becoming a scientist?
Sadly no. My interests turned more toward history and literature as I got older. But I do like psychology though.
Oh ok, and I love psychology as well.
I went back and forth between wanting to be a police officer and a firefighter.
Wow haha, did you end up picking one?
Made several attempts at police. No dice.
I wanted to be a mother, raise a bunch of kids.
โค๏ธโค๏ธ Awwww!
So why didn't you
@Bklynbadboy12 Almost did, lost the baby in July when I almost died, bad heart and all... going to try again.
Damn I'm so sorry. If you have a bad heart you should talk to you doctor first
I'm sorry about that too ๐, you deserve nothing but the best
@7Phoenix7 You're such a sweetheart
Vet, artist, teacher, singer (I canโt even sing), hotel owner 😭 so weird
Aww lol @Hotel owner. That's cute, I used to wish I could sing so bad!
FBI Agent and/or Astronaut. Certainly NOT a teacher like I actually am now.
Oooo Astronaut sounds so nice when ur a kid. Lol I remember reading somewhere about you teaching in Korea. How long have you been out there?
Three years here, as of November.
Wow, so you speak a little Korean I'm assuming? Do you enjoy teaching there?
I can barely speak basic Korean phrases like Hello and Thank You.

President of the US. Now, I wanna do something in healthcare
Like what? Doctor? Physician assistant? Nurse? Radiologist? I'm curious haha
Don't know yet, I was thinking cardiologist, but I did some research on oncology and thought that was interesting
It is really interesting. I wish I had thought about it earlier. Do you like biology? I remember in hs we had to dissect a baby pig and it was the most interesting part of class lol
Yeah, I'm in AP bio rn and intend to major in biochemistry
Oh good ๐๐ฝ
I wanted to be a cowboy. Iโm still eyeing it as an option.
Haha cool ๐, I want to ride a horse
Either clown, fruit seller, or cleaner.
Now I'm kind of those: I clean bugs, I eat only veggies, and always clown.
Clean bugs how?
Software errors.
Ohhh I see!
Wanted to be an Air Force pilot. Not doing that but Iโve definitely followed through with the unconventional career path
You mind telling me what the unconventional career path is? ๐
Well Iโve done a lot of different things, currently a pilot boat captain and hopefully moving onto a tug soon
then: singer/actress
now: singer/actress/barista
Can you sing and act?
A veterinarian never really changed just realized it wasn't really a possibility for me.
Cool ๐, how come it wasn't possiblity for you?
Oh several reasons im dyslexic, I would have a hard time telling people their pet died. It takes 7 year's of school which i can't afford and can't get a scholarship because they said my mom made to much money so I don't qualify for assistance or anything until I'm 25. I'm not very good at math because I cheated my way through some of it because I couldn't keep up with studying and deal with my drunk mother every night expecting me to be a servant to her.
So it just is not going to happen
That sucks... Sorry about your struggles, but I hope you become successful anyway.
I'm not that worried about it I have a new gole being a vet is just a dream of the past. Im currently a cake decorator.
And hope to move away soon
Oh ya! I remember the Halloween cake you made
Yep. And besides I kinda only wanted to be a vet because I want a homestead and thought the knowledge would help me take much better care of my animal
Still a child🙋🏽โโ๏ธ
I want to be a barrister and move up the ladder and make money online via trading
Soon soon soon
You're smart! I wish you success ๐
Thank you so much๐
