Should I tell my supervisor about a comment someone from the outside made?

I work with my campuses media production team. We used to have an audio mixer, but he quit recently so the school hired an outside company.
Today was the winter commencement. At the end, there was some music playing, but it was very slow, then came Christmas music. About 6 or 7 people came up saying it was inappropriate for a graduation and asked if we could play something faster. We didn’t see a problem with it, but were cautious and chose a faster song from our already pre approved and commonly used playlist.
The guy hired (let’s call him Mike) started shouting at us and told us we made him look bad. I took the blame and said it was my idea and not yell at anyone else and if there was a serious issue with the school, tell them to come talk to me. Our director said the same thing to me, saying it makes the team look bad and that they are the ones who have to deal with it. I explained the situation and apologized again, saying that I’d be more cautious next time.
Mike came over to me and said (word for word): “if I were the old me, I’d tell you that next time I’ll take off my belt and spank you”
I was embarrassed! I know I made a mistake, but I don’t believe I deserved to be spoken to like that. Should I report this or am I blowing it out of proportion?
