Why is calling someone a pebble in your shoes offensive?

I once got back at someone that wasn't really a good person when asked ''Do you felt love''.

My reply:

''How can anyone love a pebble in their shoes''?

Needless to pay, the person left... saying nothing at all. Why is that considered very offensive?

You just said “I once got back at someone that wasn't really a good person”. To me, this says you intended to hurt them by intentionally saying something mean. If you did not mean to be offensive, then why on earth would you say you were “getting back at someone”? Do you understand what that phrase means?

Not really. I was just surprised that after I said that, he said nothing else. It's like I shut him up for good. He left quickly.

Well it was offensive, so what else should he have done? Argue back? Some people just aren’t interested in going there. Personally I wouldn’t.
