HELP WHY IS MY MINI FRIDGE MELTING WATER FROM THE FREEZER?

I had the fridge set on number 5. Think coldest is number 7. But the mini freezer was covered in ice so to defrost it I had set it to number 3-4. Water fell on the floor when I opened the fridge. Is it ok I set the fridge back up to number 5? To get colder?

You know-

im not really sure if it’s chemicals added to the freezer like some dry ice thing-

but I want to assume that when the door is open warm or room temperature air and moisture get into the freezer. Something else may contribute..

BUT

somehow frost does develop in there.

When it does and it expands and such, it’s just there (ofc… that seems obvious), but when the setting is lowered, the temperature drops inside there, far enough so that the frost melts.. into water.

I guess you could try to clean out the frost and keep it as dry in there as possible? 🤷‍♀️

I’m saying all of this without any real knowledge on freezers or mini fridges

BUT

I did use, and get accustomed to one at a college campus, and when I would lower it, there was a TON of water in there. When I would turn it up and at times- NOT unplug it (lol), it would develop the frost again.

I received it completely empty as well, with frost (inch/ inch and a half thick) already inside.

I do know AC cooling units do have leaks somehow as well. Could just be the system?

Keep it on a high setting/ clean it out/ if it persists consider some maintenance tips (check for blockages or replacements), and if STILL it doesn’t resolve or worse happens to the freezer,

Just buy a new one 🤷‍♀️ If can.

The only reason it dropped water is cuz I lowered it on purpose so the ice can defrost. But what is the correct temp to put the mini fridge on? I have it on 5 . Is that okay? On 5 the ice will soon freeze up again on the freezer in the corner inside

I would say if the ice bothers you to melt it and wipe it up, but I think these are just the effects of a freezer.

You can have it on any setting, as those are the options it was sold with. 5 seems like a good number 😊

Only need to raise it to maximum for things that are bigger and need to be frozen like meats or so.

If you have the highest setting for a drink- it could get super frozen.

I would try 5 🤷‍♀️👀

Modern full size refrigerators are "frost-free." so you don't have to defrost them. I don't know if those mini-refrigerators are frost-free or not. If they are not frost-free then you have to do it manually by warming them up to let the ice melt. Then once it's melted dry it out good and turn the temperature back where it belongs.

So you need to find out if it's frost-free or not.

You defrosted the freezer , now ser the thermostat back to 5 and see what happens m

Yea I forgot I had defrosted it and it was on 3-4 for a long time and now got a black stain on the floor from the water. At 5 it’s okay
