I think the worst year of my life was when I was 15 so 2013

That was the year my relationship with my dad went to shit. I was raped that year. My sister died the year before so I was still depressed from that.

I also had a lot of drama with friends and relationships. Which looking back at that as an adult, it seems silly. But at 15 years old, friendships ending and drama is like the end of the world lol. Especially adding it on top of what I was already going through
I was suicidal that year. I was self harming. I hated myself. I was a mess lmao. Just a sad emo teenager

2021 absolutely. I nearly died from a gunshot wound to the chest, wrong place, wrong time. 2 guys tried to car jack a lady in a Range Rover that was in the lane next to me at a gas station, I was walking back out from the building after paying and the lady drove off and they started shooting, they hit her car once, the building twice and the last shot hit me. I ran the 40 feet back to my car and quickly left. I was about a block away when I started having trouble breathing, had an intense pain in my chest and saw the blood on my White blouse. I managed to drive and shift my car for 3 miles to the Hospital with my right hand, holding a rag to my wound with my left hand, and I managed to walk to the Emergency Room door before I collapsed. The Doctors said by remaining calm and getting to the Hospital I likely saved my own life, and I'm 100% back now and better than ever. I just decided on that day that I wasn't going to die by the hand of a couple thugs, who are now both in Prison.

That is a terrifying story. I am glad you had a good outcome. It is too bad that crime has gotten so bad that we never know when we might be shot or stabbed.

Only one year, that is a hard choice. When I was 14, I was raped and he tried to kill me, that was a pretty shitty year. It is however the entire reason I joined GAG, to share my story.

Probably 2022, as it is more recent in my memory.

As I got pregnant, got married, almost died in July, due to previous attack when I was 14 and life long medical issues associated with it.

Lost my baby when I almost died, then my brother died in August. Then I fell into major depression.

Then in September, while I was still suffering from major depression, I got raped by a friend of my husband and then I lost my husband as we got an annulment and we are done. Then I tried to end it all and got to spend a month in the hospital.

Then I accidently overdosed in December.

So far 2023 is looking great.

One year I was working for a company that I knew was going out of business. I had a wife and 3 kids to support. I needed to find a job that would pay well. I was going to graduate school to get a Masters Degree in Computer Science so I could start a new career in IT. I was struggling with the coursework. I wondered if I made a mistake. I was not sure I was going to get through it. We were literally a couple of months from living under a bridge if I didn;t finish school. Then right before midterms my father died. It was very sudden and not expected. I didnlt know how I was going to deal with his death and pass my exams. Then I heard my father telling me not to be a wussy and pass the damn tests.
I did pass the tests but it still was a sucky year.

2013 was really awful for me too. My manager at my job got fired, I had serious financial difficulties, my grandmother died, I got turned down for (what I thought was) my dream job, I had serious trouble finding another and better job, and I'd messed up very badly with a girl I wanted to date and was beating myself up over it. The worst thing for me though that year was... let's say for now that some old bad habits made their way back into my life, also causing periods of terrible suffering and darkness.

So... yeah, 2013 was a very bad year for me.

Though 2020 sucked, you know, pandemic, my brother was born, my dad was deployed, I had to keep my grades up on a fucking computer, already not having many friends, let alone those who had the time to talk to me, and being isolated from pretty much everyone except for my large family, 2021 was when the shit hit the fan. I'm pretty introverted so I held on for a while before I became lonely, depressed, suicidal, and touch starved. I started to get better when my family moved to another state and I was back at square one. Making friends doesn't come naturally to me so it wasn't till 2022 when I made a real friend. Though I'm no longer suicidal or depressed and have pretty much gotten my life back together, I still long for non-familial physical contact

2017/18 was hard too... infidelity, friends trying to ruin relationships, horrible potential inlaws, lots of emotional cheating, verbal abuse

Fall of 2020 all the way through 2021. Had a teaching position taken away owing to a leader's view of the pandemic and response. Change in jobs; change in income. Saw one of my children really hurt by some things in his life. House flooded. Just an 18 month period I'd rather forget.

2022 was a really stressful and unfortunate year for me. I had been under a lot of pressure in my personal life and my mental and physical health hadn't been good either... I even got infected with Covid and the flu

Can't decide on just one lol, it's a toss up between 2001 when I was 6 years old when I was raped, parents divorced, grandma died, and other drama that a kid that age should never have been dealing with. The other year would be 2007 when I had to talk my brother out of suicide on 5 separate occasions.

Yeah, that sounds tough. My worse year I think was when I was 9 years old, I developed diabetes and anorexia and clinical depression and my parents denied me medical treatment because my mother was jealous I was prettier than her and wanted me to suffer and my dad wanted to have sex with my mother so he went along with her wishes.
