Is telling someone ''you're not my type'' too offensive or ok?

I was chatting with someone online. Everything was ok until we exchanged pictures. Someone with indigenous features and noticeably overweight (chubby face) isn't exactly my type. I know he wanted to meet me but agh, I just wasn't attracted to him.

Nowadays I tend be honest. I just said ''I appreciate you wanting to meet me but honestly you're just not my type''. Was that offensive or ok?

He had some of the traits I look for but lets just say he would need some work on the physical department. I couldn't get past his looks and indigenous men aren't really my cup of tea.

I think it's important to be honest. Sure, it stings. If the other person takes it so hard then you dodged a bullet anyway.

I'd rather someone be honest and tell me they didn't like me, rather than trying to absorb the blow and make it seem as if they are somewhat interested.

Yeah I hate the blocking and ghosting method and also the stupid ''I like you as a friend'' line. Nope, it's either I like you and want to proceed with a relationship eventually or you're not my type and we move our separate ways.

I prefer "I'm just not romantically interested in you, lets just be friends". Then I get on with my day.

Blocking and ghosting sounds mean. I only block someone if they were really a bad person or is turning into a stalker.
