+1 yHaha!!! One of my childhood friend's has that fear. He never told me. But his ex talked about a trip where they were driving from Illinois to Indiana. Most folks who know the area, know of a huge bridge that is across the border in Hammond. Anyway, she said he started to go up the bridge and got so scared he came to a complete stop. She had to find a way to switch places with him so they could continue on the toll road.
As for me, I have a fear of heights, but not of bridges. I have driven all over the United States. I have driven over very hilly terrain, through long tunnels, over spectacular bridges, etc. I have never been frightened or scared.
Until I went to Turkey.
That was terrifying. Driving through those hills in Anatalya was insane.

🤣🤣🤣 that is too funny. I could imagine her reaction. "Like why this dude stoppin here."
My aunt will not go on a bridge. If you need to take a bridge to get there. She ain't going.
I remember on a aau tournament in Tennessee to get to our hotel you had to drive up several mountains.
We made a wrong turn and ended up going around the mountain and we were practically driving on the edge and at some points no guard rail. I was not happy at all. - +1 y
That is exactly what my experience was in Turkey. Except this was just a dirt road, if one could call it that. I was so mad with my lady friend. She said she didn't remember it being like that. Truthfully she didn't pay attention when she went the first time. Then to top if off, we ran out of gas, halfway to the village. In the midst of the hills in southern Turkey.
It was crazy.

+1 yI know I don’t actually matter in this scenario, but I am just going to mention this anyways.
So you know how the things you see is just a bunch of information going through your brain well, I have a problem with the part of my brain that is involved with interpreting visual information so every so often I go blind just cannot see anything I mean I’ve learned how to deal with it a little bit but not enough for me to be able to drive safely. Issue is due to the nature of my problem. I can’t just get prescription sunglasses so until they find a way to work around this problem I’m basically stuck unable to drive. So yeah, I would be absolutely terrified to drive on bridges.11 Reply- +1 y

+1 yNo, but driving next to steep cliffs is a little nerve wracking, especially around tight bends. I also got nervous once while driving a steep mountain road because i started to smell my brakes after a while. I’ve never had brakes fail me while driving, but that possibility was my main concern that day. I was preparing myself for emergency action in case bad jumped up to worse suddenly. Ell oh ell!

If the bridge looked like this or worse I might question it but fear it no. 11 Reply - 1.4K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 yGephyrophobia is the anxiety disorder or specific phobia characterized by the fear of bridges and tunnels. As a result, sufferers of gephyrophobia may avoid routes that will take them over bridges, or if they are a passenger, will act very apprehensively when passing over a bridge. I don't have but I know a person who has.

+1 yNope. Not even on my bikes. Probably less so on my bikes. Well, unless there is a 50 + mph side gust.

I feel far safer on my motorcycles than on my scooter in high wind.
I get a kick out of men who think you don’t even need gear to ride a scooter. They don’t realize it hurts just as much to fall off one as a motorcycle.. and there is nothing to squeeze with the knees to help stay on. Far more dangerous.
I rode a freeway in 50mph winds once for an hour both ways to take my scooter to a shop. Tumbleweeds the size of cars crossing the road too. Crazy day!! - +1 y
If they are small and dry enough they explode when you hit them with a big vehicle. They have huge strong thorns though. The big ones can be dangerous.
+1 yI typically don’t but we have one in Louisiana that has a steep, long incline at a very sharp upward angle before you reach the top so you typically have to gun it at the base to avoid your speed dropping considerably before you reach the top. It’s kinda annoying and a bit nerve racking.

+1 yI do not like bridges that are high and have an incline and a descent... example Goethals Bridge in NY. I dont mind the level ones.
Having said that, I also do not like bridges that make a sound when you drive over them, particulary draw bridges when they have slow moving heavy traffic over them.10 Reply

I’ve seen too many crazy accidents take out people who were just minding their own business following the rules of the road…10 Reply
+1 ySomewhat. On a bridge there is usually no shoulder or other way to dodge a driver who is not paying attention and is about to hit you, so you are forced to get hit since dodging means possibly going into the water.
