Is anyone else sort of afraid of driving?

people are afraid of stupid stuff like flying on a plane, but one out of every few hundred people are going to die from a car accident. Not to mention the injuries you can get. The problem is other people on the road. Driving would be a lot of fun if there is nobody there.

Yes though I can manage it. In university, I had a large pick-up truck and that made me more nervous of making mistakes. Here in Japan, I have a very small car and that doesn't make me nervous as much.

That said, what makes me afraid of driving is not the injuries I can get. I don't mind those being a bit of a reckless adrenaline junkie into extreme sports.

I am worried that a mistake I make will hurt someone or, my worse nightmare, kill someone. So I actually prefer smaller vehicles since my chances of hurting someone else badly with those seem less and I really want to get a motorcycle since it seems the safest vehicle to me that way.

Back in high school I was getting in trouble with the authorities in the US, and went to live with my father in Japan. I found myself getting involved in this new form of street racing called drifting. Apparently it’s very big in Tokyo.

Tokyo drift! I think it's super cool and very popular here in Japan although I lack the skills for it. I am trying go-cart racing lately and I just end up drifting off the road all the time. I saw Awano Kisaragi (drift queen) at the go-cart race track though and she put on a drifting show for us. I thought she was super cool!

I think, as I drive more, I will definitely be more confident. I would say I am anxious when I drive.
