Does the father's or mother's gene influence a child to grow taller?

I've wonder about tall people of both genders. For a man it would be above 6ft and for a woman above 5'8. Lets say if someone wants to have a higher chance of having tall kids, would the mother or father's gene influence it more?

Would the mother have to also be the tall herself (not just the man) to produce tall offsprings?

I don't think either parent's genes necessarily influence height more than the other. In my case my height came from my mother's side. My father was pretty average in height, as were his parents and grandparents. My mother is 5'2" but her father was 6'3", and I'm 6'3".

It is both. My father was 5'9" and my mother was 5'11" I get my height from my mother.

I am not expert on genes, but with selective breeding it better if both parents are tall.

Nope. Could skip a generation. My brother and I ate both taller than our parents. And I'm only 5'10.

Interesting. Genes is so random. Meanwhile neither of my parents are that tall (mom's just 5'3 and dad 5'10). I came out at 5'7. That's just slightly above average but in comparing to my parents, I would be a taller child.

Most of my family is shorter. Maybe a few tall men. It is weird how that works.
