Do tall couples likely make larger babies?

If both parents are tall, would the baby end up being large and weighing above 7-8 Ibs at birth. My Mom's friend worked as a midwife for years. The mother had to get a C-section because the baby was bigger than usual. The baby girl ended up weighing 11.6 Ibs (5.21 kilos). That's big for a newborn baby girl.

I'm going to assume both parents must've been tall in order to have a large baby.

It's possible, but not guaranteed. Tall couples can have short children, and short couples can have tall children.

It all depends on genetics, and their dominant/recessive genes. I would say it's probably more likely if both parents have a history of tall family members going back at least a few generations.

I ended up towering over the rest of my family, and I was a huge, fatass baby, so sometimes genetics does funny things.

It's been slightly over 20 years since that birth. I guess she must now be a tall 5'8 to 6ft woman.
