Former president Carter is dying at home on hospice. What place would you choose to spend your last days until your death?

I just want to die in my own bed in this apartment I've rented for several years.

I would want to die at home. I really dislike it when people try to force aging parents into nursing homes when they don't want to. Although a fair percentage of older people move into some type of care facility by choice. They don't like it, but it's common for them to do it with no outside influence.

I think one reason older people do this is because they want to move while they still have time to create a new home and enjoy it. It doesn't have to be a full nursing facility. There are plenty of options where they can have their own place but in an environment with plenty of necessary services.

I have three friends in their 90s that I've known most or all of my life. They and their families are dealing with it in very different ways. There are a lot of options out there.

I'd say roughly half of my parent's generation are gone. I'd also say that roughly half stay at home until they die, or at least until the very end when they go in Hospice (which can also be at home). One of my neighbors that I've known since the mid-60s is currently getting at-home Hospice.
