No one likes a show-off or arrogance. We tend to enjoy the company of those who are genuine and humble. But what I personally have found interesting and challenging is the balance between being humble and being too humble. Finding that fine line between modesty and being overly presumptuous is a phenomenon that varies for all of us. However, do not allow the concept of being humble set you up to be overlooked. There is no shame in reminding people what you're good at, what you've accomplished, and ultimately, what sets you apart from everyone else.

Yes I think there is such a thing as being too humble. People who are like that are annoying to be around because they try to downplay their accomplishments in order to not appear to be boastful. Well you can still acknowledge your accomplishments and at the same time not be boastful. What they do comes across as being fake.

Lol Well hey, I am one of those people probably I don’t really talk about my accomplishments because I wanna do more and I don’t feel like I’m doing enough yet also definitely not trying to come off as prideful

LOL I remember in college, the University had a spokesperson who worked in the industry that we were majoring in, come and talk to those in our class. He started off his presentation by saying all that he did in the industry, but that "he was lousy at what he did". One of the professors stopped him right away and corned him on saying that. He was like, "You can't be doing all you do and be lousy at it. You're just trying to sound modest." They guy didn't quite know what to say.

Hmm I don't know. I like to be humble just enough not to come across as bragging, cocky, overconfident, arrogant, narcissitic... i think if a persons too humble then they might be too nice and get taken advantage of. I don't know

Yea no you should be proud of those. Last time i let someone still my shine or take away the credit was back in school when i would be the only one doing the “group” project but they’d all want to take credit for it so they could get a good grade too. Nah

Yes. Not always but it's possible. And I think it's when you let humble get in the way of things. Almost like an addiction. So, if humility prevents you from taking legitimate credit for something at work and you miss a promotion, etc. -- that's when you can be too humble.

Yes, absolutely! If you're letting credit that you deserve go to someone who doesn't deserve it; you are being inappropriately humble. There may be good reasons to take the hit, but most of the time you're just shortchanging yourself.
