Overt disability is something obvious:
Covert is when it's not obvious.
I know that both suck and as much as possible, no body wants either but if you had to choose.

Definitely covert. because unfortunately people do judge you by your appearance pretty harshly. as someone with an over disability that is very noticeable that is what you will get everywhere you go. likely get bad looks from people either pitying you, or not seeing you as another human being. Your job opportunities will also be limited. i mean they would with a covert one too but with the overt one they would simply get one look at you and already determine you are unfit for the job. Dating prospects would also be quite limited im sure. It really sucks for them.
now with a covert one you don't get that. you can pretty much walk around as if you don't have one at all and people won't give you a 2nd look. and when you explain the disability to people who care to learn about you it can help bring the two of you closer. you know connect well. but of course you will also get those ignorant types who despite explaining it to them still won't get it and still treat you badly. but overall this is what i would rather have if i had to choose in your hypothetical question here.
Thanks :)
Overt, people tend to disbelieve invisible disabilities, I have autism but function reasonably well, the hatred I get is sometimes truly disgusting, BUT I wouldn't swap it for a covert disability because it's just the way I am,,,
Hey that's true.

Covert - definitely.
Now I work with the disabled community, children and the judgement I see in people when they see a child that looks like the average child but doesn't behave that way - then they'll be more understanding when there's a visibly disabled child along with us.
I see. Wow that sucks that people even treat young kids like such. How unfortunate!
I wish to have neither, but my girlfriend had a disability and they absolutely hate when people act like they can't do shit. Everyone does and most of the time they can
Oh I see. That's good to know!
i'd prefer no disability at all. no one asks to have one and i'm pretty sure 99% of people would turn it down. i know there are the 1%ers that would like it to support them. i've met one and it just made me sick
I'd sooner be outwardly normal so I don't get gawked at or automatically ignored. Of course an invisible disability does get you accused of being a shirker and so forth, so there's that.
