Did you ever bump another car?

What did you do? Did you leave a ticket? Did you leave without saying anything?

Today I bumped a car and I had to deal with the owner - my wife! I was mortified, she was elated because I always give her crap about her driving and parking, and for once she could be the one reproaching me. I offered to take her car to the shop and pay the damage from my account, she said no - the bump must stay on her car as a mark of shame for me and she'll tell everyone about it, ruining my pride as a driver and destroy my reputation. In her words, I must suffer and think about what I've done.

My life is over.

Nothing up until this point, I've had other people do stuff to my vehicle. Last time was a 5 months ago during winter tire changeover season. Some guy parked across from me in the Costco parking lot got is tires changed over, he didn't stood his tires up in the truck bed and left the gate open.

Dumbass backed up quickly forgetting the tires were in the back after shopping and one rolled off the back of his pick-up, across the parking lot and hit the bottom corner of my truck. Puckered the back right corner.

One of my most horrible things I did was bump into a car while I was in uni at a skate park. I had suffered a terrible slam and broke my left arm and was a bit dizzy and trying to drive home with my good arm and bumped into a car.

Then my skater friends said, "It's not a big deal. Just drive away." Then I got out of my car and I barely noticed any damage, but there was a noticeable scratch on the car. I said I should reach the other person but my skater friends were like, "Dude, just go home."

So I caved in out of fear and drove home but then I've been haunted with this for the rest of my life. I should have told the person and paid for the damage. I could afford it. I don't know why I was so afraid. I still have nightmares about it.

There was a lot of peer pressure with the skaters telling me to forget about it and just go home but it's the one time I let peer pressure get in the way of my moral judgments. I've caved into peer pressure for things like drugs but I actually wanted to do drugs. Here it was like I really didn't want to do it but I caved in and I think it's one of the weakest things I ever did in my life, since I knew it was so wrong to drive away but I did it anyway.

I can never get over it now. I still have nightmares about it even 20+ years later. I think some people when I ramble about this to them think it's no big deal, but 99.999999% of the time in my life when I knew with 100% clarity was what right vs. wrong, I chose right. Most of the time my struggle is knowing what's right in the first place. Here I knew for certain that what's right is not driving away but I drove away. So it is the darkest and most shameful thing I ever did, knowing for certain what's right but still doing what's wrong.

A couple weeks ago we went out to dinner, me, my partner, his brother and a mutual friend. Parked in some random pay for parking lot since there was a rugby game on. After dinner we got back to the car and my partner backed up and right into a Ute behind us (pickup truck) it had such a long bed. Pulled away and got out to assess the damage, a small dent from our towbar hitting the right side. But the issue is... We didn't have a pen. Nobody had a pen. So after searching the entire car for anything to write with we just left.

There is now a pen in the car. 💀

Yes. I pulled out of a car park space and turned right too quickly and scored the side of a very expensive new car. Then I reversed back, then flustered I got out of my car with it still in reverse gear so it reversed into the car behind and did damage to the car beside me. It cost us thousands to make right. My husband is not a very violent man but that night he actually spanked me really hard, so hard I couldn't sit down for a week.

I had a few minor accidents when I was younger. I believe the last accident which I caused happened in 1977.

I've been in four car accidents in my life... none of them my fault; thay all hit me when I was making a legal maneuver. Now I did scrape the side of a friend's car while pulling into their garage... and I paid to have that fixed.

So, to answer the question... No, I've never bumped into another car.

Yeah, once but, I was only going about 1 mile every 8 weeks. We were sitting in a line of traffic and I hadn't noticed that the car was incing forward because I didn't have the break pedal all the way to the floor.

A couple years ago hit my Dad's car, went to tell him. Only damage I did was minor, just cracked the right side of his right headlight and scraped some paint off mine in the back.

Yes, I called my insurance company, got a claim number, and left the information on a note on the parked car I "bumped".

I didn't do it on purpose, I got distracted and her car was in a different position than usual, so I made a mistake backing out.

thankfully, knock on wood... I mean plastic, no. but I've been bumped several times. One lady backed into me while on her phone... after I'd been riding my horn to alert her for at least 5 seconds.

Once. Very minor. No damage to them. Some damage to mine. Fixed in a week. VERY embarrassing.

I never did, but a friend of mine did while I was in the car. We talked to the owner and as it was just a tap, he basically shrugged it off.

No, but I have been hit while riding a bike in the bike lane, while crossing a crosswalk on a green walk light, rear ended on the 55N freeway, and had my parked cars hit four times., three of which were hit and run.

I was backing out, and she had left her car in the driveway. I distracted myself fixing the rear view and bump!
She couldn't stop laughing.
