393 opinions shared on Other topic. humor has nothing to do with humanity or morals,
so you don't know how they will respond if someone's in danger.
Can't tell their objectives because most complain or described "relatable" things through humor, so others laugh at that, but it's not direct agendas lol
Not usually, anyways. Someone could use it as propaganda, at best, like in comics and such.
The biggest thing is two friends can laugh about race (for example) and just laugh at creative caricatures with the colors of them both and others, but a racist person could laugh at the same joke or
make a different joke with a similar vibe, but mean it disrespectfully, and harbor bitterness for those people.
Sometimes a person can laugh at themselves while they trip up, and while they love themselves, a hater nearby, in their work/school environment, could be laughing as well and actually happy they looked "stupid" and had some bad luck.
I've personally laughed at a guy and thought he was super adorable- he got offended and asked why I laughed because he probably mentioned something that would seem emasculating or immature, but I saw him as cute? ;-; (he just didn't know me well as a person).
So it's a good indicator, but it's not a direct formula one could always count on.
Humor is so evasive and not concrete.
Some people and kids will say hurtful things or do bad things and say "I was just KIDDINGggg!" and we then correct them and say WHY it's not funny.
(It crossed a border).
This can happen in toxic relationships where they gaslight also "Oh take a joke..."
so since humor can never be truly serious... it's hard to see what masks a person can be standing behind.
muse? mockery? malevolence?
Comedy wears many faces.
You have to know some people and catch some luck.
If you think you know a person, it's mostly with the other supporting social cues- how they sound, what they did... not the comedy or jokes themselves.
If it were written, we wouldn't always know.
I will close up with it depends. It really depends.

+1 yNot completely but you can kind of assess what kind of person they are from the type of jokes they tell. Like if they tell dark humor jokes then that means their usually a sarcastic and somewhat morbid person which is my kind of person.

+1 yThat is an excellent question. Yes, I'd say so to some extent. I dated a girl once who found people getting hurt funny. She laughed at people's misery. It wasn't like she was laughing at someone who fell and hurt their pride. There was much, much more to this. She was a racist too and told the most ignorant jokes, finding them funny.
Though, I'm a writer and I have a dark sense of humor, so maybe it shows I'm disturbing, lol.

m +1 yI don't think that's necessarily true... no
because it is not so simple... a sense of humor is something more intricate and there can be a lot of factors involved and there is also a lot of context to be considered as well
sometimes... the smarter, the nicer and the more emotional balanced people... are the ones who are more able to find something funny WITHOUT being truly insensitive10 Reply

+1 yLaughter is the best medicine & as for me I like to OD on laughter & I seem to laugh at the stupid & silly $hit so that probably says a lot about my character. On the other side of things if you are ever in a group & all of you start laughing just remember the person who laughs last thinks the slowest.

+1 yI personally don't like to judge people by that because humor is humor, it's not meant to be taken seriously and this is taking it seriously to a whole other level Anna 🤣

Let me give you a weird but argumentative comparison, let's say someone facts in a weird way and you find it funny, imagine someone judging you as a dirty and unhygienic person because you giggled at a fart

Farts* not facts

Once I laughed because someone said the word do twice. Sounded like doodoo

Same, I miss those times where dirty diapers was my only stress haha
+1 yI’m not really sure about that cause different people find different things funny. Like I don’t find animals getting hurt funny but I find when people add different words to LeBron’s name. LeGM for example is funny cause if a player doesn’t do good LeBron will trade that player

+1 yNo, but you can tell a whole lot when they are lacking a sense of humor especially if they lack the part that allows us to laugh at ourselves!
20 ReplyI think what sense of humour you have can say something about you but I don't think it's a dead giveaway.
Like someone can have a dirty or dark sense of humour and have a heart of gold and vice versa12 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI hope not, because I can find humor in most things. Often it is not really the thing itself, but my mind jumps from tangent to tangent, so I might laugh at inappropriate times.

+1 yYeah.. For example, I like the show friends and my friend thinks how I met your mother is way waaay better and funnier... That's how I knew he was stupid and it has been proven with time lol

+1 yIt would tell you a little about his character and personality but not everything. There's so much more to learn about a person
20 Reply 1.3K opinions shared on Other topic. Their personality, not their character.
Based on his personality, Hitler was a misunderstood animal lover.10 ReplyIn general, I used to be able to assess what a person wanted just from them entering the room. So, I can say that it's true you can find out what a person wants

+1 yYes. If they like Family Guy, then I steer clear. That's usually a sign of having some mental disorder.
(Rick and Morty, too.)10 Reply Yes, if they find stupid things funny, dump them. If they find gross things funny, dump them. Because they are either stupid or gross.

One thing I can think of right now, is if they find someone's difficult position funny

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yi don't think character is defined or identified by what a person laughs at. If so, then I'm screwed. 🤣
