I just want to add, I think they can. Humans are complex creatures, and it's not that black and white. We can be tender and caring at our core, but also justify wicked actions based on our experiences. Sort of like a coping mechanism. Bad actions don't make you bad underneath the surface. They just prove the dynamic nature of our psyche
