1900 sq ft.. When i build a home, I would like for it to be between 2100-2700 sq ft. I want a long narrow single story home. I know that more square footage means a greater price so i have to try to keep it on the lower 2100 end to be realistic and stay in the 300k. For example, this house below is unattractive to me. But i love how long/wide it is. I know its not smart to build out and that you're supposed to build up to keep costs low, but i really don’t want a two story and would much rather a long home that I can run around in

Where i currently live is a long ranch built about 15 years ago and its got the open floorplan but i dont like that fully because it lacks a nice long hallway. I want a hall to hang wall-art. I also dont like the placement of the fireplace nor how the kitchen is galley style and the master bath is small. We also have the long porch with rocking chairs but we’re not all that outdoorsy so its useless and just for show. The house i build would fix a lot of the stuff i dont currently like and it wouldn't have a front porch, but a nice small entryway

Having just asked my husband who's an architect and therefore designed our six bedroom, six bathroom home, he assures me that it comes in at being 6240 sq. ft.

This does not include the garages or outbuildings.

The whole property stands in its own grounds of ten acres (4.047 hectares).

Not very big: 150m^2 although that is slightly larger than usual Japanese home, but Japanese homes are teeny. I make decent amount along with my wife but we don't even have garage, a proper backyard, dishwater, dryer, and not very good heating or air conditioning. I sometimes dream of moving to US since I met people there who barely made any money and they still had a home so much bigger than ours with huge living room, sofa, dishwater, dryer, massive oven, a proper backyard, etc.

It is pretty cramped! We have three bedrooms but also two have tatami floors. I am not big fan of tatami. Spill something and it's very hard to wash out. Japanese real estate costs a fortune. I was originally in Tokyo but it was too expensive to buy a home there. Even the tiniest run-down home like 95m^2 with everything so cramped cost over $500,000 USD. So I moved to Kyushu which is cheaper but far from cheap.

    Hard to say...

My couch is shared with the dogs and the grandson.

The bed room is shared with the Missus.

Bathroom and kitchen are shared with my step kids.

Net space left: some 10 square feet for myself? :D

Gross space is about 45 square meters plus a (little) garden.

Altogether: very ''compact'' - but with plenty of nature around to enjoy...

My house is tiny like 1100sqft? I think. It was the only place available when we moved here due to it being overpopulated. 🙄 Hoping to get a bigger place when we move here soon

1380 4 bed 2.5 bath plus unfinished basement. It was 5 bed 1.5 bath when we bought it but we added an ensuite bathroom with laundry to the primary bedroom. Its small for that many rooms but it uses space rather well so it feels bigger.

3400, but there's just two of us, so it's not too crowded. Trying to expand but neighbors won't sell me their house yet.

More than double that. I inherited it and because of California property tax law, selling it and moving into a smaller places would likely end up costing me money on net in under a decade, so I might as well just stay.
