If mermaids were real, would you keep one in a massive aquarium at home?

Nah. A creature that big would require an aquarium so huge it would probably cost $100k and up just for the initial build. And then you have ongoing maintenance costs. I bet you that the turd a fish the size of an adult woman puts out takes some SERIOUSLY expensive water treatment equipment to keep the water clean.

Plus that creature is not going to be happy alone and far from it's family/friends.

And 1 mistake with the equipment and it's going to die. Like if you're on vacation for a week and come back to find it dead cause you forgot to do something with the equipment right or the power failed. You're not going to feel good about being responsible for it dying. It's probably as intelligent as a dolphin or a human. It's not like you accidentally killed a goldfish.

I mean... would a mermaid have human rights? And what mermaids? Are they just typically Ariel stuff with been half and half with one half been a hot woman or we talking original mermaids been hideous creatures that lure people to death by their songs?
And if the human one? Are they that biologically close to humans that eating them would be bad for us? Or can we just eat them.

Also for sure would be trafficking thing going on if they are hot. If they were just the hideous ones mostly we would just kill them off.
