So I'd like to go outside, been indoors for far too long. My dad volunteered to drive to this picturesque city.

I don't drive much.

However, my dad is an asshole. He talks down to me, doesn't respect it when I tell him my point of view about something, and I know he's just going to ruin the trip anyways.

At the same time I'd like to go as I'm feeling suffocated.

I suggest you go, but try out some different techniques to see if you can get a different response or reaction from him. You have to be quite controlled, thoughtful, strategic. You have to try to think like a different person. Or, be a different person to whom you normally are. He probably sees you as his [adult] child, never to surpass him. But he would be wrong. Eventually, the dynamic and power flips. See if you can dislodge the dynamic; even just a bit.

Oh, and bring a book and some music with you. When he gets ridiculous and rude, shut him out.

Sadly this is something you might have to go through with for family.

Right now my wife wants a ffm and I don't know how to for her. She loves being outdoors so much that it is hard to find someone who also likes being outdoors.

Really just talk with friends and family try to get out of it and hopefully you can. If not make the most of it being forced to.

I would encourage you to go out definitely but not with your dad. Just go by your to a park or hiking or something. Be one with nature.
