I don't get why, I don't like cats. Like, there has to be a better option. No offense to anyone but cats come off as huge douches. I know from afar they can be cute. But actually taking care of one, I don't get it. I heard there's this thing in their poop that brainwashed their owner. Is that why so many people love cats? I would say I'm a dog person. I used to own a dog before he died of old age a few years ago. But, I don't even like dogs now. It's weird how that happened. I used to love dogs and pets. Now I think about the responsibilities, cleaning up after it, having to be concerned about it. It's time and money consuming. Frankly, not worth it. I'm a clean person, I love being hair free on my clothes. I know there are some breeds out there that don't shed, but still not interested. I prefer to go out, do whatever I want and not have to worry about taking care of something.

The same reason a lot of single men have cats- they enjoy the company, and cats are typically lower maintenance than dogs (in my opinion at least). It just irks me that women get mocked for having cats and being single compared to men.

I think maybe it's also that many men would want to have a cat, but most value their freedom too much to actually consider it.
Or that some cultures tends to have no impractical pets.
So I think, maybe more women than men but might not be because they don't want to.

But I have no stats on it, just a thought.

There's nothing really negative about liking cats, they want their space nut they also want to be close and cuddly.
I wish I was secure enough to justify having a cat, at some point I will.

It's the old trope of the crazy cat lady -- cat hoarding associated with spinsters. But it doesn't apply to all single women with a cat.

Dogs must be taken outside for walks. . . even in the evening, after dark. . . and if she lives alone and it's not a big dog, being in that position might make her feel vulnerable. Cats do not need to go for walks!

Being single probably means having less time for your pets. Which makes cats a better option than dogs.

That is just a speculation, I'm not a single woman after all.

But cats are just amazing. They are stupid enough to do funny things. Smart enough to have their own personality. Often love to keep you company (cat on your lap, cat lying next to you, purring whenever you get close). Curious enough to regularly check out what you are doing. Agile enough to get anywhere without any problems. Require way less maintenance than dogs (daily walks). And are really pretty.

    I should stop

Cats are just good pets in general especially if you have a job. They're cool with being left alone for more than 4 hrs at a time. They're very affectionate and cuddly, not to mention incredibly smart when they want to be. While they aren't as easy as people make them out to be they are easier than dogs...

I don't know if "most" have cats but, the reason cats are popular is that they are cute, easy to take care of, small and neat and clean compared w dogs. I would super love to have a cat but my dad acts like he might die from allergies if he is around cats.

Men have cats too! I'm a dog person, but I've had cats throughout my adult life. Cats are easier to care for, you have more freedom. I had a puppy for only 10 days, it was like having a real baby. I was not ready to change my whole life like that for a dog. A cat trains you, you have to train a dog. Cats are also a messager of the spirit relam.

Dogs ruin sleep quality, they bark and snore louder. Unless you're worried that somebody will break into your home, then the defense dogs provide can allow you to relax better.

First off, you’ve said that as if it’s a fact and it isn’t. Most single women don’t own cats. Even in the place where the most single women own cats it’s only 1/10 women. That’s pretty minimal.
And even if we say that most people who own cats are single women, that’s not true either. The people who own cats the most are families with children.

So no, most single women don’t own cats and most cats are not owned by single women.

Bc cats are sigle , independent and self reliant just as nmany women want to be , and do not want to be ordered around. And want to be focused on goals to be achieved. More or less , anti-relationship but at the same time need to want to be social , nurturing and imulate companionship that women should be doing with a human instead. Now days having a woman is just like having a cat... not much different.

Because there's a lot of similarities between women and cats. LOTS. So there must be some natural kinship thing going on. Plus, maybe women are more likely to be suckers for a cute face & cats cash in on that.

I have 10 kitties in my yard. Three initial strays including 8 offspring in 3 generations. All gray except one one Calico. There's also 4 raccoons stealing the cats' food.

    I'm neither single or female.

They are low maintenance and easy to care for, so she can go to the club and get railed by dudes all night without having to worry because as long as kitty has food, water, and litter at home he's good.

Cat vocalizations are in the same frequency range as infants which women's brains are programed to respond to positively.

they will become a part of your world.
