Are cats and foxes enemies or pals?

I ask this because I always thought they were. But I have called to my cat to come in the house and it walks out of the brush side by side with a fox.

Foxes natural prey is vermin and sometimes squirrels and rabbits. I don't think they generally go after cats.
In cities where foxes have become acclimated, there are few instances of foxes attacking cats. Foxes and cats are kind of indifferent toward each other. There may even be cases when they become friends.

I think most times they're just indifferent to each other. Foxes typically prey on animals that aren't very active at night (rabbits and squirrels, for example). Adult cats can defend themselves against foxes, but I've never seen a fox bother testing a cat.

Depends on which Disney movie you're watching. I know that The Fox And The Hound are friends.

They are enemies. A fox came into my yard and came after one of my cats. The other cat chased him off. I was really proud of him.

Are you sure it wasn't a coyote as a fox is not much bigger than a cat while a coyote is bigger, just below a Labrador retriever.

No, it was a Fox. A couple of years later a coyote went right up on my deck and carried my cat away. My daughter found him in the woods a few days later

Around here it's coyotes that carry away cats and small dogs. On my way to work one day early in the morning a coyote was chasing a cat across the road. I almost ran over the coyote on purpose but didn't.

If I see coyotes in my back yard they will end up on the wrong end of my shotgun.

You must live in the country. You do that in the city and everyone will be calling the police.

I live in a rural community and my backyard backs up to the woods. I could get off a couple of shots before someone might be inclined to call the cops.

Because house cats are fed by people and generally not aggressive, they are not seen as direct competition by foxes in most cases.

Depends on how they get along (kind of like how a cat could see some other cats as friends while seeing others as enemies).
