Is living in TWO CENTURIES important?

Is it important for a person to live in two centuries, for example, born in 1990 and living now, in 2023?

Does it make a difference for someone who only lives in one century, for example, someone born in 1930 and died in 1998? Or born in 2002 and living now, in 2023?

Have you ever known anyone who lived in three centuries, for example, born in 1898 and died in 2002? Would that be considered special?

I personally have never known anyone born before 1900, but my mother's aunt who passed away when I was 17 was born in 1900. We used to say "Aunt Loretta is as old as the year."

Of course, some famous people we know who almost lived in 3 centuries, like George Burns, born in 1896 and died just after turning 100 in 1996.

Frank Buckles, the last "doughboy" (US WW I vet), was born in 1901 but died in 2011.

Perhaps the REAL question you should be asking is about living in 2 different millennia.

At this age, it's odd though: So many people we knew when we were younger are now long gone and would be over 100. George Burns would be 127 now.

Yet, so many young adults like my 3 of my grandkids were all born over 100 years after George Burns or my Aunt Loretta. To have personally known adults who are over 100 years apart in age cements how I am part of the middle of a 5-generation span and that passes the baton from that earlier generation to that younger generation.

No. The changes that we see in our lifetimes have nothing to do with the arbitrary number slapped on the year; you can see that by simply switching calendars. Go from Gregorian to Chinese to Islamic, and you'll see it makes no real difference.

Well, with the odd exception, maybe. I once walked past a Jewish cemetery and read headstones as I passed, noting that some were in Gregorian and some in Hebrew, and wondered how it would look to alien archeologists exploring a deserted Earth. Would they think that the graveyard had been in use for three thousand years?

Century's are shorter now. One time the life your grandparents lived was pretty much the life your own grandchildren faced. A century has now been condensed into a decade.

It's not at all important, however we are mostly a product of our times. Tough times create strong people, easy times create weak people. And this generation (my generation) definitely lives in easy times. I think it's important to learn from those who have gained the wisdom of living in times that were different from our own. We can definitely gain perspective from doing so.

Too many kids nowadays are spoilt and entitled. They feel like they're invincible as soon as they pull out their phones and start recording. There's a lack of accountability nowadays.

It really does not make a difference. The length of somebody's lifespan is more important. I have seen many nee inventions and developments. Organ transplants, joint replacement, gene therapy and laser surgery. I have lived through trips to the moon, communication satellites cell phones and the internet. I cannot imagine what the next 50 years will bring

I lived 2 centuries the 90s and the 21st century. I enjoyed the 90s those were the years. Things were much simple. Life was boring no doubt but also we enjoyed playing hide and seek as children and being outdoor but its cool i had a chance live 2 centuries. I will never live to the 22th century so better i enjoy this century because its my only time to exist

It does seem like things were better for me last century but I don’t feel any different about it, my daughters were born in 1999 so maybe they can make to the next one and cover 3 of them

I know one person who was born in 2000 (so still XXth century). He always says that "if I live 101 years, I will live in three centuries.
