Ending hunger. Growing up I used to volunteer at the food pantry or homeless shelter and there were so many children in there in need. It touched my heart. Food is a basic human necessity. No one should go hungry

It's the only overarching cause I can see that would have positive impacts across various fields I'm passionate about like decoupling economics from growth, addressing climate change, and throttling the funneling of capital to the 1%.

Capitalism is at the root of a lot of issues. Eliminating it will make it easier to address big issues. If no big corps control governments because no big corps exist, then we have a more direct democracy.

Can it be my family? Because that's pretty much my dedication right now. If not that it would be reducing rape, from all genders and all gender identities. that would include looking at root causes and punishing child abusers and getting rid of the glass slipper. Female rape of young boys leads in many cases to men who themselves rape women. if we don't address that root cause we can't stop the results. As we teach boys that their boundaries don't count and then expect them to respect others boundaries it's a hard battle. Virtually every convicted rapist has reported sexual abuse as a child, think about that for a moment. yet we seem to give female perps a pass, because, well they were boys...

If I was able to make a substantial contribution in the fields of either medicine, physics, or engineering, then I'd devote my life to such a cause. The truth is though, I'm a very smart person, but do not have the collection of qualities on the level necessary to do so. Knowing this of myself allows me focus my energy on things I am capable of instead. So to answer your question, the one cause I would dedicate my life to to would be that of giving my hypothetical kids the best life possible. (I'm not 44, so still have many baby making years ahead of me)

I would push for affordable mass transit in every major city in the world. Make it easy for people to get where they need to be, using transportation that has a low carbon-footprint. Reduce the numbers of gas-guzzling vehicles on the roads, and make it more possible for people to walk and bike if they want without having to fight mobs of cars and trucks.
