There are a few people seeking easy money to finance projects or a lifestyle. Go Fund Me abounds.
Someone from my high school class had a Go Fund Me page to pay her grandson's tuition to high school. A homeless woman set up a Go Fund Me on Nextdoor after begging for help for her and her dog. People offered all kinds of non-monetary help: dog food, collar, leash, a tent, replacement for items stolen from her.
Remember P. T. Barnum's adage: There's a sucker born every minute. The other is: A fool and his money is soon parted.
There are poor people who believe everyone else is rich. They aren't rich. Just rich-er. But using tactics to squeeze money out of others by pretending to be a lover in another country, or crying poor mouth because you're homeless, or your daughter wants her son to go to private school, is still bilking others out of their money. It's criminal.
People feel sorry for those who have less than them, and struggle because they're drug addicted, alcoholic, homeless, don't have enough money for something they feel they need, are mentally ill, are in a poverty-stricken country, are debt-saddled.
But it's terribly sad when an old man or woman sends thousands of dollars to someone claiming to love them in Ghana, Thailand, India, even the U. S. It's one of the oldest games in the book. It's moved online. It happens via phone. AI will likely bring new tricks to the game.
And there are a dozen permutations. Investments. You've won something, so send money. I need this, send cash. Your son is in jail. Get him out. Phone company will lower you bill, but you have to pay a setup fee. (phone company never does this... happened to me... I got off the phone and called AT&T. They confirmed the scam.).
Begging is another form of SCAMMING. Unless you're giving to a recognized charity that you know helps people in the situations described, or you feel like giving away hard-earned money, don't support beggars except ones you see on the streets. Give them bottles of water and power bars. No one should go hungry or thirsty.
İşsizler. Böyleleri çareyi tiktokta arıyorsa daha çok dilenirler.
