Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yMy sincerest and heartfelt condolences for your loss. I wish I knew the words that would bring you comfort. All I can tell you is that you should know that you shared something with your boyfriend that was unique and special and nothing will ever take those memories away.
Hold to those memories and know that for a time you had something that few other people have - someone who loved you for you. Nothing will replace him, but take comfort in what you shared and actually be happy knowing that you gave him something he otherwise would not have had in his life so sadly cut short.
Bless you and God keep you. Know that, in time, the pain will ease, and that you made each other better people for what you shared. There is no greater gift in this mortal life.

Do you have an empathetic friend with whom to share your feelings? It helps to talk about it, cry and let your feeling out.
You might also start writing down your memories. Everything from when and how you met, things you did together, what kind of person he was and everything you know about him, what he meant to you, what you loved about him, how deeply you loved him and why, and how much you miss him.
I've done that with one particular girlfriend. It keeps her memory alive, clarifies my thoughts and feelings, and solidifies why I loved her so very much. It's like a long love letter written in bits and pieces over time.02 Reply

+1 yI've nearly always had to go through shit like this alone. All I had was a dog and my music and memories. Play a bunch of music you both liked to listen to and just write down how you feel or what memories it conjures up for you. You don't have to show it to anyone, just keep it for yourself. Maybe pull it out once in a while to read through it again. Back ion the `80's, my best friend suggested getting a big spiral notebook and writing everything down in that. She was into witchcraft so, instead of calling it a journal or diary, she called it her book of shadows. I got one and did the same for most of the next few years. In a way, it's LIKE having someone to tell your troubles to, especially if you imagine that, maybe, some day, someone will read it and they'll know how YOU felt at various times in various situations.
Some would even suggest that, once you've written it all down, you should take it out and burn it because, once those issues are gone, so will your troubles be.32 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI am so so sorry for your lost. The only thing I can say that I know you may not want to hear is that time is the only thing that will help. It's going to take a lot of healing and time to get through this tragic great loss. I have loss someone close to me suddenly too and it was not easy to get through. I felt like my world had crumbled and nothing anyone could say made me feel at all better. I had to get through it by just being patient and giving it lots of time.
Not sure if you're spiritual but if you are, prayer helps as well.12 Reply- +1 y

+1 yThis is everyone's nightmare (every person who has loved). I suppose if this happened to me, I would reflect on what made that individual so special in my life. Perhaps note your feelings, or compose a poem or a song that could only be for him. Don't be afraid to be sad, finding time to grieve is really important.
but the memories warm, your heart, and if you are a believer in afterlife, you should know that he is still close. We all will be someone's memory someday, and I'm sure he took joy in being part of your life.10 Reply- 1.8K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 yHobbies, friends, family, and pets are the only things that helped me or anyone I know deal with loss.
The worst times are when you are by yourself and bored because then you think about it more. So surround yourself with people you get along with, and do things you truly enjoy.Keep music on that gets you pumped to do fun things, eat food you love, go places you are fond of, if you don't have a pet, get one, they are comfort wellsprings.
It won't make the grieving go away to do any of this, but it will make it so you can survive it until it naturally passes with time.
Its going to feel horrible for a while, but in the mean time, you need to do whatever makes you feel even slightly better.10 Reply 5.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Nothing can be said to assuage the pain you're heart is feeling I'm afraid. But know God was the first weep at his passing. Know that he is in God's arms right now and feeling no pain. Know that his love for you has not diminished even now. Death cannot stop that. You will see him again one day I promise you. And you must continue on for him and yourself. Take the time you need. Rage if you need to. Nothing you're feeling at this moment is wrong. I'm not going to lie to you this pain will never go away. But each day you'll learn how to deal with it better and it will become part of you.
10 ReplyThere are no words sufficient for losses such as this. It is horribly difficult. Let yourself grieve, and hold onto the good memories. The grief will always be there, and will probably hit you in waves, but the pain will lessen with time and the good memories will remain. If you shared true love with him, the fact of having experienced it with him can be a source of gratitude and strength as you move forward. I wish you comfort and healing.

I appreciate your kind words and advice which is already in my heart. Thank you! π
+1 yI am very sorry for your loss. I suggest you go and see a grief therapist. Losing someone very close to you, is devasting. Steve irwin said in a video, which I will never forget. You owe it to that person, to get back up, and try harder. I lost a close cousin of mine. That helped me.

It's OK to cry.
Its OK to ask for help.
If you need to talk. Shoot me a message. Call a warmline. Look it up. They are literally there to just talk and help.
