Did you know that US auto workers are now on strike?

After after being unable to secure a favorable new contract with auto makers, US auto workers went on strike today. What are your thoughts about this?

Strikes are now Against Ford, Crysler, and Chevrolet facilities.

Fuck the UAW. I grew up in a big auto industry city. The UAW is a horrible union that did everything they could to bring down the US auto industry. They are largely responsible for a major downturn in the industry. They are responsible for vast numbers of permanent job loses. They are a bunch of arrogant assholes who don't give a shit about anything or anyone but themselves.

Some unions are worse than others. Some are sort of OK. But the UAW is one of the worst ones. In general I hate unions with a passion.

If you are looking for some other reason for me hating them so much, there is no other reason other than what I said. They are vastly over paid arrogant assholes who don't give a shit about anything or anyone other than themselves. Simple as that. It's not like my view is unusual. It's pretty damn common, especially among people old enough to remember how badly the UAW fucked things up.

Strikes seem to be the thing this year in the US... SAG, AFTRA, and now the UAW. Even Starbucks workers have staged work stoppages.

It's not just this year but ever since the supposed end of COVID workers have been a little disturbed about the fact that a few people make a ton of money and millions of workers make very little. A strike is one answer to this problem.

I wouldn't say that workers make very little. Confirmed sources say " The average hourly wage for United Auto Workers in the United States as of 2023 is approximately $27.99."

Arg premature send... the average home price in the U. S. is just over 400k. At 27 bucks an hour they should qualify for a mortgage on a 400k home. All these numbers are from redfin.

No, but I’m familiar with the late night talk shows they are on strike the writers. This has been going on since around April
