Does anyone know what this thing is called or how to remove it?

I want to remove the plastic lining off this window but don’t quite know how. There were end pieces that just slid off but I don’t see any way to remove. I would just google it but so far no luck.

Those are vertical blinds. The top part you are trying to remove is called the valence. It's usually held on by some sort of plastic brackets that clip onto the carrier truck if it is mounted to the wall or onto some metal brackets that are directly mounted to the wall by screws that are anchored into the drywall/studs in your case. The carrier truck that holds the blinds will be mounted to the top of the window sill usually by two small metal brackets one at each end of the track that each have about two screws in them. You should be able to see the screws if you open the blinds and look up or unclip the blinds and remove them.

You want to remove the blinds or the valence that goes over the top? If it's the valence that one looks like its screwed into the wall so you will have to unscrew and then patch the holes. If it's the blinds then you need to find where it's attached at the top, usually it's a clip that you'll need a flat head screwdriver to pop open on each side.

It's called a valance. They clip on.
