What is the primary cause of unhappiness?

Mine? Not enough time.
I don’t know how I managed to attend school full time, work part time at the gym, do my own workouts everyday, cook and clean, have a social life and still be home for down time before bed. It’s one of the things that definitely makes me wonder what happen and why I cannot do that anymore.

Most will say money, people, but none of those have ever been an issue for me.

Probably the fact that we always want more and better things and we lack  gratefulness .  And when the time goes on, we miss what we had and didn’t appreciate.

Happiness is an internal emotion. If you don't let it out it is on you. I look at the world as if every day is a gift. If I can feed some birds or hold the door for another person. That makes me happy. You can't buy it and no other person can give it to you.

Main character syndrome, which I think exists a lot more than is ever diagnosed. The "supporting cast" doesn't play their proper role as little more than glorified extras and it causes anxiety for the person that things they should be in the limelight.

Humanity's asked that for quite a while now. There's some prevailing theories. The fulfillment of ego, ascending past the material world etc etc. I've found in my life, giving up the idea of happiness, embracing the current emotional situation, and focusing on being content, has helped my overall mental help. But it isn't perfect.
