Why The Person Who Stole My car Damage it? ?

So my stolen car was recovered by the police after 2 days. But i wish they didn't find it. Its was horribly damaged. Why did this person steal my car then? Just to damage it and toss it. The police told me its not unusual for stolen cars to be recovered with horrible damages. The person who stole it also took away the car paperwork. This all doesn't make sense...

Cars tend to be stolen by 2 different types of people.

1. Men in their late-20s-early 30s who are stealing them to resell - often via a chop-shop or by illegally exporting them to another country.

2. By boys from 15-21 who want to take it for a joyride and "drive it like you stole it" - meaning completely abuse it racing, or "sideshowing" or whatever, and not caring a bit if they completely destroy it.

Obviously your thieves were the latter type.

Hyundai/Kia vehicles have a huge security vulnerability, which is widely known, and makes them very easy to steal, and has made them among the most commonly stolen vehicles for about the last 5 years.

I hope the insurance totals the car so you could get a new car. Personally, i would not trust a stolen car because who knows what type of abuse it endured. I bet somebody took it for a joyride and drove it hard. Good luck to you my friend. Hope you have a new car in the driveway soon.

I hope the insuance would do that. I dont think the car would ever be the same. It was damaged from all sides even its plates where removed. The damage in the pic is just showing one side

Thank you… my car was the least I had to deal with back then… all in the past now.

I have a liability coverage so it doesn't cover fixing the car. The company told me i needed a comprehensive insurance in such case. i am taking it a day at a time. It hurts but its not the end of the world. As long as my health is good everything else can be fixed.

I always see the positive when things fall apart…not easy but we become stronger and we learn.
At the end, it’s money and like you said, we are still here with good health. We can do anything.
Maybe an opportunity for an upgrade?

Thats true👍🙏. Yes sure i will be looking to get a new car. Not a Hyundai or a Kia ever again. As mine was a Hyundia and the police told me they are the easist to get stolen

It is not their car so they played bumper cars with it. Maybe the insurance company will just total the car.

No its not like that. But its really random. Like why steal a car just to throw it away after damaging it. No one steals cash and toss it an hour later after burning it right? People steal stuff to keep it to themselves or sell it and benefit. The didn't steal any part from the car. If they intended to damage the car then why they didn't break it and damage it while its parked. But taking time to steal something risk being caught driving it. Then just to throw it away?

It's called a joy ride. It is more common than stealing a car to sell it to a chop shop.

Really? . its the first time i hear about this joyride concept... Its not common where i am Originally from. Yes i heard about people vandalising a car or damage it while its parked out of malice. But this joyride thing is new to me
