Is there anyone on GAG that doesn’t wear a seatbelt?

Yesterday, my friend and I went out to eat and as she drove away, I couldn’t pull the seatbelt out enough to lock it! I was yanking on it and also freaking out, because I actually feel naked in a car without the seatbelt on me. I made her pull over. It turned out, I slammed the door on a small portion of it that was hanging out when I got in her car. Do any of you not wear one? I notice mostly older men don’t. Are any of you like me and unable to function without one on while in a car? 😂

The problem was I slammed the car door on a small portion of it that was hanging out. I couldn’t figure out why I could only pull it about a foot and it would suddenly stop. So when she pulled over, I opened the door and saw a portion of it was hanging out. I’ve never had that happen before.

I don’t wear one. Been deployed 3 times, shot at, out in danger numerous times. I’m not worried about a seatbelt.

The first car I owned did not have a seat belt. I can remember when you could buy them at the auto parts store. I always wear mine except if I have to back in to a parking space. I know many paramedics that say they never had to cut a dead guy out of a seatbelt

I rarely do. I have to concisely make an effort to think about it. So maybe 15% of the time I wear a seat belt.

Same as all the older guys I know, including my dad. He’ll drive a thousand miles listening to the seatbelt alarm instead of putting it on.

When I was a teen it was considered rude to wear your seat belt when
you were a passenger. It was looked upon that you thought the driver wasn't very good. As a kid car seats weren't even required. So wearing a seat belt was never even something you thought about.

Yep, I’m beginning to realize that. I have an uncle that literally gets a seatbelt ticket every month! He still either forgets or just doesn’t wanna wear it. It’s funny though, because when he sees a cop he remembers! 😂

Our seat belt laws are less about wearing a seat belt and more an excuse to pull over suspicious vehicles. I've been pulled over for speeding and not been ticketed for not wearing mine. Even if I were to get one it's only a10$ fine. Not exactly an amount that motivates a person to remember.

In the state I live in, it use to be the opposite. They couldn’t pull you over for not having it on but you would get fined in addition to what you were originally pulled over for but that changed a few years ago. Like you said, it is a ten dollar fine here also and rarely enforced. Once in a while they have a “click it or ticket” campaign, where they HEAVILY enforce it.

I usually wear it. However, if for example, I'm literally going 500 feet, to my destination, from somewhere else, then no, I won't. There's no point, unless for some reason I can see a cop somewhere within that 500 foot vicinity.

No they’re just not that comfortable. That’s all And I don’t drive that fast on US1 plus I’m driving in the truck, so I’m kind of protected but yes, I should wear one

I live in WI, moved here a year ago and seatbelts became mandatory in like 1995, so a lot of people your age and older have a hard time wearing them. Most want to but forget and some just don’t want to.

With dynamic airbags like Tesla uses you don’t need one anymore. Kids of any age can sit front seat too. Seat belts won’t be necessary for much longer.
