Who is considered your countries most famous philosopher?

Every country has produced it's great philosophical thinkers. Many would consider Voltaire to be one of Frances's finest. But who is arguably your country's most famous philosopher?

For Wales, I'm going with Richard Price (1723–1791 pictured) who arguably caused the American War of Independence and supported the French Revolution. Which gets me thinking, are philosophers just Trolls?

Emilio Uranga and José Vasconcelos would be two that are considered a foundation of philosophical approaches in Mexico...

and if you went back further in time... there would be both Mayan and Náhuatl philosophy writings that might not have a particular signature (thank you Spain for that heavily editing in Mesoamerican History, lol) but perhaps one name that could represent it would be Nezahualcoyotl... not only a Tlatoani (ruler) but also an scholar, architect, warrior and poet but also a Tlamatini or philosopher from the Mexica Empire (or Aztec as people refer to them)

I guess for me as an American, I am going with James Madison. He authored the Federalist Papers with Alexander Hamiliton, and then went on to become the 4th president of the United States, and later in life was referred to as the Father of the Constitution.

He more or less started out a political philosopher, with some pretty radical ideas about government at the time. Later he was revolutionary and became a statesman. But he started out as pollical philosopher, but is not thought of as such, because he actually put his theories into practice.

Famous? I disagree with her on many points, but I would have to say it is probably Russian-born naturalized U. S. citizen Ayn Rand. If not, then probably Jonathan Edwards, although he died before the United States existed so probably should be excluded.

Peter Singer - utilitarian. I have actually paid cash money for one of his books which proves I hold him in high regard as I have bought no other philosophy books.

Australia seems to have had a strong philosophical influence for some reason.

Australian philosopher? I used google , and of the top 5 , I've never heard of any of them , So my vote is for Paul Hogan and Norman Gunston , some great stuff on Youtube.

I would argue that Thomas Jefferson is probably the most important American philosopher. He was also a major contributor to the Constitution and to the ideas behind it.

Probably Immanuel Kant, its the first one who comes to my mind.

Also his name sounds dirty when pronounced in English.
