DO I REALLY NEED TO SAY THIS BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT CAN'T HAVE KIDS OR DON'T WANT KIDS AND HAVE PETS. SO IF I ADOPTED A CHILD AND LOOKED AFTER HIM DOES NOT THAT MAKE ME HIS STEP PARENT, IF YOU CHOOSE TO BRING A PET HOME AND YOU FEED THEM AND LOOK AFTER THEM LIKE YOU WOULD A CHILD THAT STILL MAKE YOU A PARENT.

I'm incapable of bearing and giving birth to a child.

Eventually, we ruled out child adoption.

Throughout those heartbreaking years, our pets have been a constant source of love & joy.

Our pets are definitely our children.

I got my two dogs when they were just a few weeks old, two years ago.

I cared for them - I raised them.

I don't see them as humans (that would be an insult), but they are clearly family members to me.

My pets are my responsibility and obligation. I chose to get them so they fall under my responsibility. That said I don’t treat them as children, dependants yes children no. I try not to anthropomorphize my pets

Nah. It is demeaning. Cats are family, but they're more brothers and sisters to me. I put myself on the same level as them. Not above them. NEVER above them.
