I've own both in my life. Both have their pros and cons, but I am leaning more towards dogs because dogs I feel are more dependent you for things. They are also cuter and more cuddlier than cats. They can just shoot down my stress levels when I feel bad. Cats do that as well. They have their own way of showing affection but from my experience, cats are more aggressive (in a bad way) than dogs. My first cat, his name was Playboy and he lived for 15 years. We were VERY sad to see him gone when he finally went to "Animal Heaven" but during his stay here he was quite playful and loving but there were times that he escaped and then he got disorriented and BIT my dad when he was trying to get him back to the house. We found him by a neighbor's trash bins. He was a white turkish angora so he was easier to see than a black cat.

Our current family pet is a dog and she is seven years old. She is a very adorable Chihuahua mix. Her eyes are so huge and she looks like she is sad and worried a lot but that's just her face lol. I don't think she really feels like that. She protects us with her little body (tends to bark a lot). She is also very loving and affectionate and lets us pet her head, neck, body, and she just LOVES it.

I love animals especially house pets. I heard pets can add to one's years here on Earth.

Jeeze, I'm not a one type of animal person.

In my adult life I've had;
7 dogs (great danes, irish wolfhound, boxer/lab mixes, and eskimo),
7 rescue cats (4 from death row at the pound, 1 given away by a coworker who found it, 1 starving by the road, and 1 was being given away online),
18 chickens (4 isabel ameraucanas, 3 buckeyes, 3 silver laced wyandottes, then one each of calico princess, barred rock, black jersey giant, white jersey giant, black australorp, california white, dark brahma, sapphire gem),
7 cayuga ducks,
about 6 rats (we adopted 4 and one had 2 dumbo babies right after we got her),
and hundreds of fish and aquarium pets (mostly mollies, platies, guppies, and goldfish).

I adore all of them!

There are also other animals I would love as pets like highland cows, gypsy vanner horses, and pigs. But, we aren't at that point in life yet.

even though i prefer dogs in general and already have a malegerman shepherd with me for 7 years i prefer cat love language rubbing heads instead of licking also hugs. but cats are too small for me to love it properly and theytend to be anti social

so i will bite the bullet and say, the best animal companion for me if all needs would be fullfilled is a male lion and preferebly 2 of them cuz i'm against raising animals or kids alone every creature should have a sibling figure while growing up.

my idea for their name is super original, leo and simba (for people who doesn't know simba means lion in African language so this wasn't a lion king reference if i was gonna do that i would name it kovu)

joke aside i think kai and jack could be good.

I lived with both and love them both.

I had lived with two kitties, one was my cousin’s Scottish Fold, I lived with my cousin and spent a lot of time with him, his name is D’artagnan - He has been a good friend of mine and I am honored to be 1 of 5 people he loves. My cousin sends me his photos weekly. He’s a real aristocrat.

Another one was a Sphynx cat, her name is Kaito. My brother’s best friend’s kitten that we sheltered up to a year, when our best friends were abroad. We raised her since she was a tiny weird looking but adorable girl. She loved me a lot and always slept with me. I miss her. But she’s now living happily with our best friend’s.

My pup, I have had two pups in my life and both changed me as who I am, both made me a better person. I have loved them both dearly. One of them passed away at the age of 18 when I was 12… My brother and I were by his side…

And another one, he’s a young 1.5 year old lad, I can’t describe how much I love and miss him.

So, I love both cats and dogs.

I’m an animal person.

I have dogs currently. Am waiting for the cat distribution system to get to me. Have a fish that we’re working on getting a larger aquarium to give him some friends and a cleaner/natural environment. Eventually I’d like a reptile but need to do more research and learn how to give it a proper enclosure. And my roommate and I are considering getting a tarantula.
So yeah I’m not a single species person I like all.

Cats really like me for some reason. Then again, so do dogs. And birds. Horses and chickens too. I don't know why.

If I had to choose, I would say a dog person. But I would not self-describe myself as either. I mean I like pets an all... but I do not identify myself as such, and honestly, I find it to be a bit of a turn off when other do it.

I have just dated too many women, with pet obsessions. Or self-described pet parents.

To men animals to a lesser degree one way or another, can get in the way of relationships as much as any other third-party intervention.
