I really considered myself a dog person most of my life and didn't see what the big deal there is to cats. They seemed temperamental whereas dogs are so loyal and happy to be with you all the time.
Yet in recent years, my wife and I ended up adopting two strays off the street. We really weren't planning to keep them as pets but one got a hip fracture and the other had a terrible condition called feline stomatitis where she started being unable to eat even the wettest and softest food we were giving her without shrieking and running away.
So we ended up rushing them both to the vet and got them treated and after that, we started to worry too much that if we let them back out of the house, they might get sick or hurt again. Then we ended up keeping them.
And I kind of fell in love with them even though they're still cats. One of them is actually like a dog though, so loyal and not at all temperamental. The other is your typical cat: "Pet me! Pet me more! Even more! You aren't petting me enough! Okay, stop! You petted me 3 seconds too long! [claws you]."
So I went with "both".
This is the one that ended up with a hip fracture. Actually I amazed my wife and neighbors that I got her to sleep on my lap since before she wouldn't even let anyone get within 10 meters of her without running away. But I ended up lying on the ground and just patiently let her become curious and warmed her up to getting just a little bit closer to me each day.
This was before her hip fracture. Then after she got treated and living in our house (she tore up most of our furniture):
She's the temperamental one. Then this is the one with feline stomatitis (now much better and can eat even dry food after getting her medicine and some of her teeth extracted).
With the second one, we really thought she was a baby since she was so small. But when we took her to the vet, the vet looked at her including her teeth and estimated she's over 10 years old! So she's actually more like a granny than a baby. At the time she only weighed barely over 1kg and was just skin on bones. After she started to recover though, she quickly gained weight to over 3kg (the picture above is after she started becoming healthy).
Both... I just like animals. I can hangout with a cat or a dog... doesn't really matter, it doesn't really matter... toooooo meeeeeeee. To me.
Mama, I just killed a man...
I've always loved cats. Dogs are much more hyper, loud, etc. Cats are much calmer, which helps if you have anxiety. I also like it when they curl up on my lap or lay down with me. I love it when they run around and play, it's funny.
Both. I love all animals. When I was home from uni, I used to help the local "hedgehog lady".

I like cats much more than dogs. Dogs get in the way and are annoying drooling attention seekers who always need to be let outside.
well i am a dog person but strangely enough i am more similiar to cats in character wise.
but if could have any animal as a companion my first choice would be lions.
Dog person. I don't mind cats, but they aren't my go to pet. Although cats love me for some reason.
just a person who loves animals...
Love them both, but love dogs slightly more.
I have had both for pets but I would prefer a cat. I am not too keen on following a dog around the neighborhood with a poop bag.
I'm primarily a dog person... but I like cats too.
A definitely love both but I like dogs a tad bit more.
I don't like both of them 😔
I am allergic to cats and i don't like dogs because i have phobia from dogs
I'm a dog guy. But I've lived with cats too. They're ok, but not for me. Dogs are always happy to see you. And you can bring then a lot of places.
Cats don't even make good door stops or paper weights!
I love both. I've had cats and dogs my whole life. The house feels empty if we don't have any pets
I’m a dog person but I know a sweet cat from the next-door neighbor and she’s very friendly and I’m always petting her. Her name is squirrel
Cat person. I like both, but dogs are too high maintenance, messy, and destructive.
I guess I cat person only because I love my cat. I'm really a reptile person tho
I hate dogs and dog people. They are dirty, smell, and they are stupid.
Dogs definitely
Dogs. Fuck cats. They’re disloyal, ungrateful, and lazy animals
a dog person, with cats
I prefer cats, but dogs seem to love me.
