Are you a cat or a dog person?

My dog is a golden doodle. He rarely barks, looks royal, and follows orders most of the time. My dog has a lot of energy; he always enjoys meeting new people. My family just takes him out once a week. He isn't fully trained, but I don't like seeing him sprawled out like a rug all the time. One week I walked my dog three times. You know dogs like going where they want. I'm pretty chill as a dog walker. When he sniffs someplace, I just walk ahead, my dog will catch up. I use the lease as a clicker; it's like he reads my mind I don't know how. I usually avoid walking on lawns, but there was someone he wanted to meet. I wasn't sure if they liked dogs until we had a small conversation. So, I gathered that dogs are adventurers. If you are a pet owner, describe your pet in the comments. You could even be a fish person! I was a fish owner during my childhood. My favorite fish was very interactive!

I grew up with a host of dogs that my dad loved. They were backyard dogs that lived in our city backyard. Dad trained them to walk on a leash. He was a country-city boy, so dogs were important for hunting and protecting your home, as was his shotgun for duck hunting.

Until, as a 7 year old, I got bitten by a puppy while petting him, I was rather neutral about dogs. After that, I decided I wasn't going to have one. They were high maintenance and needed a person as pack leader. Too much for me.

So when I got to college, I started with cats. I had two very sweet cats of the five I had over the next 30 years. It is according to what kind of animal you end up with. The two cats that were my favorite were sweet and independent. The last cat, which I adopted after it chose my 3 year old son, was the best cat.

Never used a cat box. Asked to be let in and out. Showed up when you called him. Loved to be petted and loved. Had one inside accident. USED THE BATHTUB to urinate and poo in when he couldn't get outside!!! Smart. Big, strong 13-pound, muscular cat, even after fixing. Fought for his territory. Roamed the block. Everyone knew him. All white with gold eyes. My 3 year old named him "Whitey". Lived with us for 17 years. Always smelled like baby powder.

I enjoy other people's well behaved dogs. But there are many, many poorly trained dogs that jump on people, drag their owners while walking, regularly urinate all over their peoples' houses, smell awful because they can't clean themselves and owners don't clean them. Takes a lot more to take care of a dog. Never interested me.
