Pretty intelligent but not at the top. I was on a college reading level by the second grade and was already spending all of my free time reading. I went through books very quickly reading about 350-750 pages a day on most days as a kid on top of school and homework and everything else. Librarians loved me. Teachers were annoyed, because they couldn't get me to stop. I used to memorize 80% of everything I ever read, and I've read thousands of books, scientific studies, etc. Kids in high school called me the walking encyclopedia. They would ask me random questions, and I nearly always knew the answer. But, to be fair I also read encyclopedias and dictionaries for fun...

When left with an assortment of objects, I would find things to turn them into. Like being sent outside where I found a pile of wood, nails, and a hammer. I would try to build a house. This jerk of a kid would tear it apart every night to spite me, and every morning I would run out and rebuild it faster and better. I found a bus with crutches, rope, and other materials. I managed to turn the crutches into stilts and ran around on them. I built a pulley system with the rope to pull myself up into trees. When playing int he woods alone, I would build bridges, come up with ways to catch fish and trap/snare prey, find edible foods, create weapons, etc. Figuring out how I would survive in the wild was a fun challenge for me.

I remember learning about historical events and understanding how to capitalize off of them. Immediately upon hearing about recessions, my first thought was that I would have scraped every penny together to invest because that's where fortunes would be made. It just seemed obvious, but to this day most people don't comprehend it. I was so scared I would grow up and have missed them all. When I read about how people made their fortunes in the west, I was ready to try them myself. And, I have.

When I read about slaves, I thought of ways they could have easily revolted and ended their suffering. Didn't understand why it hadn't been done. Years later I realized that people like me had tried at the time, but stupid people ruined it every time. It's always the weak links that are an issue in every time and place...

Never understood why adults were so dumb. Most adults could not mentally keep up with me by the time I was 7. It was incredibly frustrating having to dumb things down for them and explain. Even with all of that effort, most of the information never stuck to them. It still doesn't.

When a dog was hit on the highway in front of me one day, I had some medical knowledge. So, I ran onto the scene barking orders at the adults who were just standing around and the kids around me. Through my direction we were able to locate the home of the owners, care for the pup properly, and do everything that needed to be done until he could see a vet.

This was all in elementary school.

I'm book smart and street smart.

I'm smart enough to where strangers generally notice and people tend to zero in on it point it out fairly quickly. I've probably heard about how smart I am about as much as I've heard how pretty I am.

I can can learn nearly anything and can cross apply information to generate useful new conclusions. I have high deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills.

There are weak points though.

Math, a lot of math is theoretical and doesn't apply to my daily life. My brain dislikes retaining information about anything it feels that it won't use. I can learn it, but it will dump it all within a year. I don't struggle with all math, if it can be applied to money, daily life, statistics, etc. then I'm all over it. If not, my eyes glaze over and it takes a herculean effort to focus on it.

Mechanics are an issue. I can't learn about mechanics from books. It has to be shown to be hands on. I tried learning about cars, but I realized that I don't think about cars the way a mechanic does. They tend to think about vehicles in a very solid and factual way. For example, checking if the battery or alternator are bad. I get how to do it. I can memorize those processes. But, I get bored and start thinking too deeply. Why do batteries go bad? How do batteries work? Can one fix a bad battery? And, I quickly fall down a rabbit hole trying to dissect the details of every part of a car. My brain doesn't want to just memorize the trouble shooting steps, it wants the extra details behind everything or it gets cranky. There are too many parts, and mechanics aren't doing all of that extra thinking. If you've ever watched Smarter Every Day, I feel like his brain goes down those rabbit holes, and I enjoy watching him dissect the little things behind everything.

All of that being said, I aced my mechanics class. I was the first to have my engine together, and I worked without a partner while everyone else had one. The day we finished taking them apart piece by piece, the teacher said we'd spend the next few weeks putting them back. I thought weeks? Why? So, I called him over and asked if I could just put it all back together today. He looked at me funny and said you know it's an automatic fail if it doesn't run on the first try right? I said yeah, but I memorized the entire process as we were taking it apart. He said if you think you can do it then go for it. My engine was back together and running perfectly on the first try by the next day. So, the rest of the class semester ended up being a study hall for me.

That being said, every intelligent person has their limits, and I have a few. I can still learn things from those areas, but it takes actual effort to put in and retain while most other things take no real effort to learn.

It's really hard to find anyone as smart. I can find groups of intelligent people, but often they are intelligent in one or two things and average in every other way. Even doctors are usually not that smart. When I read their IQs are only in the 120's on average and they just tend to be much better at memorization it made sense. They are often unable to think outside of what they've memorized. Not saying all, I have definitely met a few highly intelligent doctors. It's always a breath of fresh air. But, the majority aren't that intelligent to me.

Compared to doctors, most engineers and scientists are smarter. They have been most of the more intelligent people I've interacted with. Architects are pretty bright too but in a very specific way. A lot of guys working on nukes in the U. S. are very intelligent.

Intelligence is my main kink. I married one of the few men I've ever met who is more intelligent and who has a very high IQ in areas that are my weak points. As soon as he started beating me in nearly everything, I knew he was the one. I have lots of friends and in-laws in STEM fields and can easily keep up when they discuss work or pretty much anything. These days those are the majority of people I choose to socialize with.

Another thing, I write a ton with no effort. Most people hate reading or writing and think I put some monumental effort into writing something like this. It comes easy to me and always has. Writing for me is like talking for most people, and reading is like listening for me. Actually, I prefer this form of communication over the alternative.

As my IQ score puts it: “Above Average”. However, I take that with a grain of salt. IQ tests don’t measure emotional intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, street smarts, etc. Even with all my experience, there’s still a lot I haven’t learned about life and I’m pretty sure I won’t find what I’m looking for in textbooks. I’ve met people with doctorate degrees that are so mercifully free of the ravages of intelligence.

I have an extremely good memory and some subjects/hobbies I have an natural instinct for picking up on it fast. A lot of it is interest based and what my mind has that intuition for.

However, that's the extent of it, so I am definitely average, lmao.

I have very focused intelligence, I was the best in the IT academy when it came down to actual IT stuff. I come with good solutions other people miss (Including experts in their field at times), I tend to be harder to fool. So all those are signs of adaptability and good logical intelligence. However, when it comes to literal short term memorization I'm very weak. So basic things like 13-5 I couldn't do without inventing a new mathematical method for myself to solve it that my teacher didn't understand but apparently others use as well.

So take that for what you will, I'm apparently smart enough to come up with an unorthodox brand new method of solving 13-5 but not able to do it the normal way.

(For the curious, the difference between 3 and 5 is 2, 10-2=8. Its apparently not as rare as it seemed but nobody here could teach me that in 4 years of tutoring trying to find a solution to my discalculia, so I ended up inventing it on my own).

It depends on how you define intelligence?

I graduated with a 3.9 GPA

When I tested my IQ, I got 145. I was really good at Biology, chemistry, and pre-calculus. My professor told me I could tutor the other students.

Don't know if I'm considered intelligent, but I definitely think outside of the box. I know I'm a creative person, and I think I regard that more than intelligence on its own.
