At what age did you start to feel like an adult?

just turned 23 but i still dont really feel like one. i still feel 19

I went back and forth. I graduated HS at 17 and went off to college thinking I was an adult, or at least practically one. I remember turning 18 the next year and reflecting on everything I had learned, how much I had grown. I felt accomplished. But then when I turned 19 I did the same thing and reflected how little I actually knew at 18. I thought "what a foolish child I was then, but NOW I know better."

Then I did the same thing at 20, looking at myself turning 19. It was at that point I caught on and said, "hmmmm, I feel like I've grown so much, but when I turn 21, I will probably be looking back with new knowledge and experience and see the things I don't see now.".

I think that was probably when I first started to really mature in a more adult way. But I would say that even in my late 20s I had childlike feelings. And even now, there is a child inside me, but I feel more like I nurture that as an adult, rather than it being my controlling aspect. I honestly don't know when I became an adult, I don't think it was a single moment or even year. I probably went back and forth on a spectrum over the years, the same way my weight can fluctuate by 1-3 kg month to month. There was just a time I guess when I said I was adult more from the age than from an internal feeling.

I still feel 19, too, sometimes. My advice is don't worry about age or "adult" status too much. Just be you and let it roll out naturally.

Work wise, I was very much an adult early on. Socialising no chance and not even close to being there, my friends are similar, work wise, yes very much spot on serious and mature, when we are out we totally piss around and act like kids most of the time.

I felt more like an adult between 9-11 years old than I do now as an actual adult. Reason being, I am willing to let things slide now and don't take everything so seriously that it becomes an idol in my life. As a kid I was a massive idolator cause I took things way too seriously and I worshiped just about everything whether it was music or swimming pools or video games or money or pride or reputation or entertainment.

I mean you get older. You do adult things. Buy a house get and advance in a career. Invest in a retirement plan etc. Maybe get married and have kids (that probably makes you grow up quick, I wouldn't know). But all the while you never feel like an adult. Just a kid still playing the role of an adult. Because while you grow older and HOPEFULLY gain in wisdom along the way. The world is ever Changing so you're always learning more.
