At this point in time, I'd say such a car would be an inconvenience.

I don't have no outlet to charge it and I have no garage where I could place such an outlet, so how could I charge it while it's parked in my drive? And their distance is limited if you've going on a trip. And, again, if you stop somewhere at a hotel or motel, where are you going to charge your car?

Until there is solid infrastructure so people can conveniently recharge their cars where they stop, electric cars are not practical. And there is the added problem of battery creation and disposal. These batteries are highly polluting to make and dispose of. Where are they going to go? Who is able to recycle them?

I haven't heard a thing about these issues. I know we need to cut our pollution from transportation, but we need charging stations to parallel gas stations, or no one will buy electric cars. And that price point is ridiculous!. Even at Prius prices, 45K, I could never afford an electric car.

I paid 2800 dollars for my gas sipping Civic 2 years ago. It is a 2006. I just finished paying it off last year. That's how poor I am. Until the price points plummet, until the battery issues and charging infrastructure exists, electric cars are a pipe dream.

And additionally, electric cars are charged using coal fired power plants and natural gas plants: both are polluting fossil fuels. So we get a non polluting car and use fossil fuels to power it.

This is the ultimate absurdity.

I'd tell the people to keep the car. It makes no sense to have today.

Yes. I would let just install 3-phases 400V 32/64A CEE connector in my garage. I wanted to install one for my current hybrid car but electrician guy wanted too much. With normal 1500W socket it takes ages to load even a small hybrid battery.

Yeah, that’s fine. Probably beats paying for gas. I’m not one of these guys who needs to hear the roar of an engine or go from 0-to-60 quickly. I’m far right lane, cruise control at exactly the speed limit, just cruising from Point A to Point B without running into police, haha. Hopefully it’s an SUV though, I carry hockey equipment at all times and fishing equipment about half the year.

I guess but it’s not easy to charge where I am and not much room, it would only be good for commuting and insurance is so much now I don’t think I could keep two cars since I need my other one to travel and convenience of getting gasoline whenever I want and not waiting or creating a bigger electric bill

They're safer, they're cleaner, they're smarter, they're quieter, they have much lower running costs, cheaper still if you can charge from photovoltaic panels, cheaper still if you can buy electricity cheaper at specific times of the day, and cheaper still with bi-directional charging as you could use it to store energy from a photovoltaic panel and power your house for cheaper than buying a separate home battery.

Range anxiety is a real issue though for many people, but personally it is not an issue to me, and I would very much love to have an electric car.

I guess I'd keep it as a backup because what else would I do with it. I don't care for their range/charge time. One of my tenants had a Model 3. He drove for uber and was always having to hang out at a pump for however long it takes. If I could sit in the back and have it drive itself while I nap, sure.

Like I wouldn't be able to afford the insurance nor the taxes on the vehicle with the state to permit me to drive the vehicle with a license plate. I would not accept the gift. Hand if the person that gave it to me would agree to make the insurance payments and the taxes on the vehicle for the next 4 years I'd probably accept it and drive it.

I would take it. Being retired and not having to drive long distances. Since I am already wired for charging. But I have a greenhouse gas emitting diesel pickup if I need to drive further than a charge will go!
