It got down to below -30 F here with a windchill of -55 this week. Does anyone else live in areas that get arctic freezes? Would you if you don't now?

As much as I hate the cold, I am actually considering moving to an area that can get down to -45C/-50F during any given winter night. But I'm only considering it because their summers are just about as warm as where I am now (averages 26C/80F in July), and virtually just as long. They just have shorter/quicker spring and fall transitional periods. It'd still be an adjustment though. The coldest temperature I can remember was -30C/-22F, and that was an extreme rarity. While it doesn't happen often, the area I'm considering can even have daytime highs where it doesn't get above that temperature during the winter. But at least I'd know the warmer weather of spring, summer and early fall would be just as long and warm, so that would be the payoff.
I like where I live now, just below the snow line. It has gone as low as 28 degrees once or twice over the past 20 years on winter nights, but usually just down to 34 max.
The nice thing is, we live on a hillside, so the cold air doesn't sit on our fruit trees and has never damaged our citrus.
The summers can be uncomfortable at times with spells as high as 110, but the days are usually in the 90s.
I'll take warm summers over snow. I like visiting the snow, but not living in it.

As a nudist, I'd perfer to live in a climate suitable for outdoor nudity all year long. However, living in the Netherlands, we do get a few months with regular below freezing temperatures a year. I'd love to live in a warmer climate, but you don't just completely change your live by moving to another country that easily, so I just have to take it as it is (and hope for a bit more global warming...)
I grew up in Northeast US. In addition to the occasional blizzard, the temperature sometimes went below zero. That's the coldest I'd ever want to be, and one of the reasons why I moved to the Southeast.
Before Christmas I was in Finland, Sweden and Norway, rather chilly. I have been to Northern Norway a few times and love the cold. Having the right clothing really helps, most commercial stuff only helps to -30c and you need specialist kit below that.
I've experienced -40 ... but not here. Coldest it gets right here is in the -5*C region... and I'm okay with that. I could probably tolerate -10*C as long as I don't have to go outside too often. Would keep my computer cool at least.
when i was little we lived where temperature -10 f. some times. if i could choose i would live in florida climate!
our usual cold can go as low as 20 to 30 so it isn't really that bad,
Minus temps are only during blizzards and stuff
Where I live the lowest temperature is around 5 degrees Celsius in winter. But I also lived in places where the temperature was -30 degrees Celsius. I also did some treks in the snow with a temperature of -20 degrees Celsius.
I've lived in -40 and tho it sucks I could live in it easily
I could deal with brief interludes of 10. Particularly if I have a cold girl. Sorry but it does come down to sex most of the time.
I expect 15 C and above. 25 C in winter is overly optimistic
lol It got down into the 40's (F) here last week in the early morning I was ready to move.
I live in a place where winters are chill to cold and summers are hot... I could live somewhere where it is only summer...

Colder than this is Antarctica! NO Thank you!
You're lying!
The world is coming to an end from Climate Change and global warming!
Even though you say that in jest, the weather here has changed substantially. Massive fire seasons and winter went from 10 months of the year to only 5. We've nearly stopped getting proper blizzards and have broken multiple high temp winter records this year. The pikas are going extinct, and our glaciers are nearly completely gone now.
Where I live climate change has been GLORIOUS! We are getting only a fraction of the snow for the past few years and it saves a tremendous amount of money and work not to mention it's great for the local economy and getting around the streets!
If this is climate change BRING IT AWWWWWWWWWN! 👍
Move here! It's GLORIOUS! Can't wait for more climate change! My house value will go up even more!
All I can tell you is that it is an island off the coast of the Northeast. 😀
UK here. I remember back in the day temperatures dropping to like -15c. That hasn't happened for a long time and I was tougher back then. Today is -2, quite mild :)
I’ll just stay in Florida
@wolfcat87 Thank you for the Like
