What's the COLDEST temperature you've ever experienced?

It was 16F (-9C) this morning, in the mountains of Southeast US, the coldest temperature recorded in many years.

I took our dog for the usual morning walk, much shorter than usual. She did her job and we came home. It was that cold.

What is the coldest temperature you have ever experienced, and where was it?

FYI, I was in Minneapolis Minnesota several years ago in the middle of winter. The temp was -4F (-20C).

Here in new york city the TREND is consistent cooling.

So for me f. -1 was the COLDEST temperature i ever experienced, so look at the trend:

In jan. 2012 f. 13 but in following years consistently colder, n colder: f11, 4, 2 and coldest i experienced 2016 "one less than zero" called "-1".

We see 4 years of COOLING and COOLER. Heat was NOT trapped in greenhouse gasses but escaped.

Then one year warming, coldest was f9 with a trend of COOLING for 2 more years f5 f2 in 2019. Then one year warmer f14, and trend 3 years NOT warmer f14, f7, f3.

Total trend 8/11 years, 70% was mostly cooling.

Since 2011 only 3 years "coldest was warmer" but the TREND was mostly "for 8 years of 11" colder and colder which shows that "global warming " is NOT GLOBAL.

probably not even warming anywhere. Just less snow fall so not replace melted glaciers! In contrast to past replaced.

We measure with mercury or digital but NOT use ice! S. m. h.

I think around -27 or -28 (-33C). I've experienced -20 or lower a number of times.

I've slept outside in -22 (-30c). I used to do a lot of winter backpacking and I wanted to test my sleeping bag near home. I didn't want to be out in the field and find out it couldn't keep me warm. So I slept behind the house first. No pants or shirt, just thermals. It was open air with no tent, just sleeping bag and pad. I got up just as it started to get light and the temperature was -22. I was completely warm, so the bag worked better than I expected. The bag completely covers your face. All you have is a little hole for breathing. You have to sleep on your back and not move around much.

-30 or -40 I don't remember but I went out once with my two guy friends to go skating.. They were both wearing ski pants and I was just wearing jeans. I left before them at like 10pm and walked home when I got back my legs were so cold they were letting cold out of them in the house they were like icicles and it took 2 hours for them to go back to normal temperature lol

Last year it was - 15 with a wind chill so the real feel was even colder. I was at my kids bus stop that morning freezing to death 🥶

I was in Maine (Stockton Springs) in January and the overnight low was -15° F and that was pretty damned cold to this old Florida boy!

-47 degrees. We had a blizzard in Iowa back in 1996. I remember it for several reasons. It's the first time I'd ever experienced "Thundersnow". It dumped a foot and a half of snow in a 24 hr. Period which would of been bad enough but bitter cold followed behind it. I remember the snow piled up on the sides of the roads (which by the way took several days to plow), made it feel as though you were driving down a lidless tunnel instead of the street as you could not see over the piles.

I know for people that get lake effect snow like Buffalo a foot and a half is routine. And we can get that amount. Just not in a 24 hr. Period. We're not set up for that kind of volume.

−43°F (−42°C) on January 30, 2004. That's before wind chill. We still had school. The walk from the parking lot, two blocks from the front door of my high school, was brutal. Today, the high here is -18°F (-28°C) with a low of -20°F (-29°C), and wind chills down to -38°F. But my house is still 72°F (22°C) inside.

I would say 9°F. It was high up in the mountains in the winter when I used to be into cross country skiing, and it was first thing in the morning. Later when I got out on the trails it was around 16°F and the mustache that I had at the time, became frozen. LOL

Back around 1990, it got down to around -22f (-30c). It was -8f on the way home from work and my car started to get carb ice. It was an old car. I stopped at a station and put some gas line antifreeze in the tank and it ran great after that. In the middle of the night, someone's car horn started going off constantly due to the cold. I thought sure it was mine but it turned out to be a neighbor's. This was in east-central Missouri, USA.
