Do you miss just having a simple old car?

I currently have a fancy car full of electronics. My automatic door locks are frozen. I kinda wish i had a car with crank windows and manual locks that way you don't have to worry about anything freezing. Just a good shot of wd-40 in the keyhole and your all set. No automatic push button start or remote start or automatic door lock BS. I miss old cars do you?

I DRIVE an 18 year old car: 2006 Civic LX. The car before that was a manual window 2005 Corolla. I miss the adjustability of the manual windows and have fears that the motor to the windows will break. I've heard of this. And they're very expensive to repair.

But, for now, it all works. Push-button electronic locks and all the bells and whistles are interesting, but I expect this is why a 2024 something or other is 24,000 dollars. I bought my car in 2021 and paid 2800 for it. It took me until this year to finish paying for it through my credit union.

The only problem with electronics are they aren't mechanicals, like the rolldown windows, which rarely dysfunction. I have a key lock on my door and trunk. And I like redundancy. Having everything one way-- all electronics, all internet, total electric, never seems to be the best choice.

If your key fob fails, you can't operate your car, can you? A friend of mine has a 2014 Jeep that he can't even add air to the tires. Everything has to be done by the dealer. Who is this servicing? It might prevent some messups by owners. But it seems that DIY people are usually wise to their cars and wouldn't damage them accidentally or on purpose.

haha yeah i do to a degree. the car i have has a feature where if you are reserving and you don’t notice a car approaching behind you.. it will automatically push the brakes for you, sometimes it can be a car on the other side of the lane and it will do it, i can’t disable it, it’s one of the cars features and i hate it 😒

I drive a 1991 toyota celica convertable. I love it so much.

It's got electric windows but it's just so solid and reliable.

I'm going to be leaving it with a shop later this year to have a bigger engine thrown in and converted to rwd.

Why spend $50,000 on a brand new car that kinda sucks when you can spend 4k on a car you really like and $25,000 later it's your dream car?

They make cars complicated so that you can't keep them going. You can do literally anything you want to pretty much any car before 2015.

I don't miss it because I drive a 91 Chevy Silverado and it's just purely mechanical no fancy doodads or gizmos at all in the entire vehicle no computer stuff at all nice and simple.

Yes, I say this all the time. I wish I could get a truck with a manual transmission, mechanical transfer case and window cranks. I do not need backup cameras, automatic headlights or even a power doorlock on the tailgate.

I have an old car. I have a key , and do not have an automatic start option. My car is simple, starts every time, and my keys always work. I don't have a Bluetooth option in my car, and I like that too. My stereo works great, and I love my CD player.

As someone who works in a car with power nothing (except steering and starting), I can tell you it's not exactly great in that kind of weather, either.

Ehhh sorta. My truck is bare bones - manual everything, vinyl floor. But for a daily it is nice to have some creature comforts
