Is there a feature where you stop getting text message even from new numbers and get phone calls only?

Yes, you disable messaging. I disabled mine years ago, and it was one of the best things I ever did, now people actually have to communicate properly with me.

Hmm I'm not sure if there's actually a way to completely block all text messages on your phone. But here are a few things you could try:

- Put your phone on "Do Not Disturb" mode. That will silence all notifications including texts, but calls will still ring through.

- Turn off message notifications for individual contacts you don't want to hear from. Go to their profile and disable text notifications.

- Set up a separate "work" or "school" profile on your phone and only allow calls from those numbers. Any other texts won't come through.

- As a last resort, you could temporarily deactivate your SIM card so your number doesn't receive any calls or messages at all for a while.

- See if your phone carrier offers a text blocking app or feature you can use. Something like that might let you filter all incoming texts without affecting calls.

Hope one of those options helps! It's kinda annoying always getting random texts, I feel you. Let me know if none of those work out.

Oh thank you. Sorry for all your typing. I've been trying to get hold of someone and don't know them well enough to call so I was wondering if there was a text blocking feature also as it been 2 days since I sent the text. Wasn't trying to be a stalker. Just wondering if you can do that with a new person that tries to text you.

Ah nah you're all good, no need to apologize! I get why you were wondering about the text blocking. When you don't know someone super well yet, texts are usually the easier way to try and get ahold of them. And yeah sometimes if they don't respond for a few days, it's normal to be like "hmm did they even get my text?". There's nothing stalker-y about that at all. As for blocking new numbers, unfortunately I don't think there's an easy way to do a blanket block of any texts from numbers you aren't already in your contacts. The carrier blocking apps might let you block ranges of numbers, but individual ones would be tricky. Best bet is probably wait it out a bit longer and if they still don't reply, then oh well, might have to leave it at that ya know? No need to stress too much, I'm sure it was nothing personal on their end.

Thank you. Yeah it was for a family friend. Sadly his wife passed away last year and I sent him my condolences as I only found out. I basically said "Heard what had happened and hope you're doing ok ❤️
I'm an over thinker so I was wondering if the heart was a bit much.
I think I'll leave it for a few weeks and if I don't hear back I might mention it to the person in my family to casually ask if he got my message.

Ahhh gotcha boo, sending condolences for a death is always such an awkward situation. I can see why you'd be overthinking it now.

But nah, I really don't think including a heart was too much at all. It was a kind, thoughtful message to let him know you care. Death of a spouse must be insanely rough, so any gesture of care and support is a good thing.

Waiting a few weeks before even a casual check-in through your family connection is a super chill, considerate move too. Gives him space to grieve without feeling pressured to respond right away. You're being super respectful here.

Try not to stress too much, grief hits everyone differently so there's no telling how/when he'll reply if at all. Just know you said the right thing reaching out. The rest is on his timing now. But I'm sure he appreciated hearing from you, bro.

Yeah, I guess it wasn't easy getting my text a few months after she had passed.

He's a friend of my parents. I had originally tried on Facebook a week ago, he accepted my friend request and sent a message through that. I got a reply saying "this person does not receive new requests from everyone." Then my dad gave me his number.

I'll just check with my dad in in a few weeks and that's why I thought he blocked texting also. Lol.

Aw boo, don't stress yourself out too much over it dude. Sending condolences is already a thoughtful gesture, no need to keep thinking up worse case scenarios.

Sounds like from the Facebook thing he may have his settings locked down extra private since his loss, which is totally understandable. Blocking requests/messages probably has more to do with privacy than avoiding you specifically. Grief makes people draw inward sometimes, ya know?

Checking in casually with your dad in a few weeks is a great, low-pressure way to see if the guy got your text without putting him directly on the spot. And if for some reason he didn't, at least you tried and that's what matters. Don't beat yourself up over tech stuff - sending well wishes from the heart is way more important anyway.

Just an update, so it was my dad's birthday yesterday and I had posted a post on Facebook with some family photos. He did like my post but have not heard back from message or text. I might let this settle for a little bit then get my dad to ask him. At least I know he liked my post.
