Nope. With lack of human civilization if anything went wrong with the time machine, it would be impossible to make repairs. Getting stuck in a time when plant life and animal life is completely different than what humans evolved within, would likely mean certain death within a very short period of time. High risk, low reward.

Yes I would, and I'd deliberately destroy something (like step on a bug, or small mammal or whatnot) in order to alter the past and prevent the human race from ever appearing. I'm just that type of person :D
