Anonymous(25-29)+1 yProbably the past for personal gain.
I don’t like people that much. Or care about them that much. They all reproduce like rabbits. Looks like a plague. I’ve been bullied all through my childhood.
Why on earth, would I bother caring for anyone other than myself.20 Reply

If it was to go to the past, it would be a person who felt the present and future had no tools for them to fix the problems and the effects of some of the problems were consequential and a part of a ripple effect that had happened before them or a point in time, they hadn’t intervened and they regretfully wish for another chance to make up for it.
so:
access to a time and people of decisions that they weren’t around/ a time they were regretfully indifferent/ ignorant/ oblivious to the areas that needed attention.
to go to the future is unnecessary because what can be done then can be done in the present. If the Time Machine was non existent why wait for the future to bring resolution? If the machine is indeed there, why use it to try to I don’t know speed something up?
Going to the future could also be someone not seeing any way of progress in the present and they believe some unimaginable not yet thought of nor created tool can be used to fix things or maybe some futuristic person will help them/ advise them.
This is the general idea whether or not it was for personal gain or “good” (/ greater good or general good of the/ a people).
It’s not necessarily about time, but about choice and decision. Being intentional and proactive.
If some people are not good or helpful/cooperative/supportive around us then we can find a different place of people. A different set of tools. Or just take more of the responsibility into our own hands.
Going to the past could be regret and changing links of events. I might regret some of my choices compared to that made by the public, but I wouldn’t go back because I accept myself. I wouldn’t go to the future because as creative as it can be it will always depend on one’s personal vision and desire, as well as someone to endorse it and others to believe in it. I personally feel like I’ve had a hard time with people, and getting them to believe in my ideas or so.
So no regrets and no future of people or some unimagined thing.
so I’d rather stay and make do with the present.
if I have to choose one- I could go back with my current knowledge and try to prevent certain systems from being put into place and replace it with more human independence and freedom.I feel like too many systems and complex systems can be hazardous and not so freeing.
Where there are Systems there are a set of options to select from and methods to follow. Not free choice. Just like an atm. 🏧. It has methods to follow and set of options to select, but if someone wanted access to their cash constantly/ at once or so, they could simply keep all their money at home. Maybe bank is a better term in this case because atms are a systematic tool to retrieve/ extract money, which people always want anyways lol
I’d go back in time and use the knowledge for the greater good of people because then I’d be able to benefit too. Since we all are a part of complex economic ecosystem.

+1 yThe problem with time travel is there can be unintended consequences.
Say for instance someone went back in time and killed hitler before he rose to power. Not as baby either but at a time he was criminally showing radicalism. The Beer Hall Putsch uprising when been a perfect time to kill him. And that prevented WW2, the Holocaust, etc. So that world war doesn’t happen but atomic bombs eventually come along. There could have been a nuclear war that would have destroyed the entire world that can come as a result of killing hitler.

Anyway if I often daydreamed about how far I would go back if could go back. Back to 30? Back to 21? Back to 16? Back to 12?
Knowing what I know now at 12 would definitely make me skip a few grades. I could completely reinvent myself to by a top 10 influencer on the world stage.
But again every change has unintended consequences. For example give i have a different life it would impact other lives. A love one could coincidentally get in a car crash when they wouldn’t be on the road in the natural past. - +1 y
The past is set never changing, the future is always changing, you can travel to the future say 5 ten years, come back to this present tone and by the time you go to the future those 5,10 years you returned from it will be different, some things will remain as your first saw but not every that's because of our actions today, I would travel back to the signing of the declaration, and bail just before the British start their invasion, there's more than just jumping in a machine and if you go but no need expand but it is one heck of a transference it's no actual machine but that world be cool
00 Reply6.3K opinions shared on Other topic. Neither. You see, if I used a time machine, once I shift time, the Earth won't be where I was or will be. Thus, I will materialize in the past or present helplessly floating in space and quickly die because the Earth isn't there anymore.

@strateguy632 Well, by just traveling in time, I am located in the same place, but the Earth is somewhere else.

I made them for the right reasons based in what I knew at the time and if in the same circumstances I would make the same decisions so I don’t question it now. So if I went back it would be to change my decisions. I also wouldn’t change anything else either as it would destroy today’s reality and maybe not for the best.
I also wouldn’t change the future for the same reasons I wouldn’t change the past.

+1 yYou can't change the past, it would create a different timeline, one in which I may not exist. I'd go forward a few hundred years and become a world renowned professor of history of the 20th and 21st centuries.

money... might do that only as means to an end. If folks haven't figured out yet, all your money is going to be confiscated... slowly and in the end. not worthy.

+1 yI would go into the future, as far as I can go. I wish to see where humanity reaches, how far we go, what technology we discover and then when I grow old I’d go further into the future, to witness the end of the universe and to die in it.

10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Other topic. I'd have to know the rules. But probably I'd just go 1000 years into the future or something, see if we stopped being so insecure yet, and live there.
